I have achieved Chain Reaction without a Tide Turner by charging at a clustered group of enemies who were at the control point. One full-crit-boosted swing of Persian Persuasion or Nessie's Nine Iron (don't remember, unfortunately) apparently has reached and killed 3 of them at the same time. (Is that even possible?)

Does "Beat me Up, Scotty" actually work with the Scotsman's Skullcutter? I ask this because what I'm editing claims it does, although the achievement description says otherwise. Yes, there have been discrepancies over whether or not a weapon will work towards a certain achievement, such as when trying to use the Equalizer for the Soldier's "Trench Warfare." Perhaps the achievement merely checks for the "decapitation" sort of death? InShane 01:59, 30 November 2010 (UTC)

Consistency regarding external videos for illustrating achievements

Assuming this wiki operates under some form of consistency, being encyclopedic in nature and all, I have deleted the link to Tturbo's nice Sentry nest destruction video for the achievement Tam o Shatter after my edit to a similarly "duet" achievement for Soldier (S*M*A*S*H and Blast Assist) was removed. I do not think claiming that the video should remain because it is old or has remained for a long time is a valid argument. Arguments from tradition are mostly fallacious. I should note I myself found the video Tturbo put up very entertaining and tasteful, illustrating how to gain a "duet" achievement, and so my own video was done in a very similar format, of similar length and illustration purposes - I was inspired by it. To then enforce this inconsistency in choice (and "Just shoot rockets" is just as valid as "Just shoot stickies" in that case) of cherry-picking content seems just wrong. My Youtube channel has almost no videos - it is a repository, not an advertisment.

I don't think we can have it both ways on a wiki. Either we allow both videos to remain, or none. --Bombax 09:30, 2 May 2012 (PDT)

Tartan Spartan bug?

Demoman is my most played class, but on steam (I havent looked ingame), the Tartan Spartan achievement progress is listed at zero damage points... whats up with that? Matimoo 05:19, 25 September 2011 (PDT)

It's the same with the one that counts your total burn damage as Pyro - for some reason it always shows a big fat zero in Steam. It's fine in-game though. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 07:18, 25 September 2011 (PDT)

Scotch Guard glitched?

Has anyone else encountered this problem? I have done what the achievement requires on multiple occasions, but receive no progress either in game or on the steam achievements page. Is there a list of which achievements are know to be glitched anywhere? Reykjavik 19:44, 16 October 2011 (PDT)

I have recently tried to get it when playing against bots, and that didn't work. Haven't (actively) tried it against human players though. Itsacon 05:42, 30 January 2012 (PST)

Medieval mode/Scotch tap

Medieval mode makes it easier to earn melee-based achivements for all characters. Now that medieval mode is official, achievements can be earned while playing it. I think it is worht mentioning. 'Scotch tap' (kill someone with a sword taunt) is much easier to earn in medieval mode. Instead of sneaking up on snipers, players need to stand on a contested control point and get the timing right as enemies approach. This is a lot easier because enemies must close in to kill you. Especially on control point C on deGroot Keep. I earned several tauntkill achievements this way. K-Raider NL 08:10, 26 January 2012 (PST)

Another thing

It seems that killing someone doused on Jarate also counts towards the achievement "Beat Me Up, Scotty", because yesterday I killed a cloaked Spy doused on Jarate with the Eyelander and earned the achievement. I'll add the info. Hydra877 04:25, 24 April 2012 (PDT)

Per above, Scotch Guard may still be glitched or not obtainable with the Scottish Resistance

As the subject says, I can verify from my own experience that the achievement may still be unattainable. I say this because I used the Scottish Resistance near the enemy's payload on Helltower to obtain the Pipebagger achievement, yet did not attain any progress for the Scotch Guard achievement. Of course there is a chance that one or more of those three players were not capping.. but I find this highly unlikely, since all of my stickies were placed very close to the rail itself. Head-on collision achiev

I got this achievement without swinging a melee weapon. Just found a low health charging demo and killed him with the shield. Encarnado (talk) 01:30, 14 September 2014 (PDT)

Beat Me Up Scotty works with several weapons

From my experience the "Beat Me Up, Scotty" achievement can be achieved using the Half-Zatoichi as well. It should be noted in the section, and one should also investigate whether all decapitating weapons can work.

Chain Reaction alternative

I have achieved Chain Reaction without a Tide Turner by charging at a clustered group of enemies who were at the control point. One full-crit-boosted swing of Persian Persuasion or Nessie's Nine Iron (don't remember, unfortunately) apparently has reached and killed 3 of them at the same time. (Is that even possible?)
