This is a list of things I have realized while playing Team Fortress 2 on The Orange Box. Maybe you can learn from this! Who knows?
The tips will be sorted class-specific.

Engineer
- Calling for a Medic (default key: ) the moment after building a Sentry Gun, Dispenser or Teleporter will stop the "Sentry going up," "Erecting a Dispenser" and "Teleporter comin' right up" voice responses respectively, or otherwise obfuscate what you are building. In rare situations, this could bait the enemy into rushing you, which is especially useful if you built a Sentry Gun while performing this tactic.
- The Sentry Gun is the only weapon that you can upgrade.
- Do not let Spies sap your Sentry Gun while it is upgrading! The sapper will become invulnerable to any damage - almost as if the sapper became ÜberCharged - but your Sentry will still take damage.
Medic
- When the Spy disguises as a Medic, the ÜberCharge meter will not show.
- You can assist enemy Spies by healing them once they get a backstab.
Sniper
Spy
- On 2Fort, the Spy can backstab players if they are in front of the battlement windows on the top of both forts.
- When the Spy disguises as a Medic, the ÜberCharge meter will not show.
- When the Spy disguises more than once before the process finishes, the disguise process will restart, but the smoke will stay the same. This can nullify the need for cloaking before disguising.
- When the Spy backstabs someone and then quickly cloaks (default key: ), the attack will only register when the Spy is fully cloaked.
- Sapping an Engineer's sentry while it is in the upgrading process will result in the sapper becoming invulnerable to any damage - almost as if the sapper became ÜberCharged.
- If an enemy Medic heals you while you backstab someone, the Medic will obtain the kill assist.
- Ammo boxes and resupply lockers do not replenish your cloak.
All classes
- Switching to Spectator and changing your class (default key: ) will still change your class when you rejoin the team, regardless of if the class was restricted by the server owner.
- The 2Fort map has a design bug in which players may walk through the battlement windows in the middle of both forts. This does not happen on Windows/Linux/Mac versions, indicating that this was not intentional.[1]
- When taunting (default key: ), jumping (default key: ) will cancel the taunt - however, your character still carries out the taunt for other players. This has been refered to by the community as the "Taunt While Moving exploit."
- Without modification, you can only use the MEDIC! voice command.
- When in front of the spawn doors, you can prevent the doors from fully closing.[2] If the spawn doors are owned by BLU, you can walk through by crouch-walking into the left side of the door.
