油漆罐是可以讓你更改帽子的顏色的工具。現時油漆桶共有14種顏色，除「相當飽滿且獨特的色調」和「與眾不同的無色彩」兩種色彩外，其他都可在店中購買到。「相當飽滿且獨特的色調」和「與眾不同的無色彩」只可從補給箱中獲取。被更改了顏色的帽子是可以被去掉顏色的，但這樣做則不會歸還油漆桶給玩家。
Valve說過，有計劃令武器也可更改顏色。[1]

相關細節
- "色彩編號 216-190-216"中的"216-190-216"代表的是RGB顏色，它的十六進位顏色代碼為#D8BED8。此顏色偏向粉紫色或粉紅色。
- 其實Zephaniah英文拼寫錯了，正確的應該是Zepheniah才對。
- Muskelmannbraun在德文中是健美男棕色意思。
- 油漆罐上色並不支援DirectX 8，在DirectX 8下只能看到原本的顏色。在DirectX 8染色道具描述會出現"carrying"字樣提示此為染色的物品。染色時有時候也會出現紅字寫"Paint will not be visible on your computer (DX9+ required)"。
