Password required???
I tried to join the IRC Channel, but apparently I need a password to even join in. There is not even any mention of there being a password in the page...can someone help? AbeX300 21:38, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- There is no password for #tfwiki. If there is, you might want to check your IRC settings. —GeminiViRiS Talk · Contribs 21:42, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, there is certainly no password. Like GeminiViRiS said, make sure you entered the correct channel to connect to and also check your client's settings. MogDog66 t c p || 21:44, 26 April 2011 (UTC)
New Cloak list
You can still get one, it will just take a bit more time. Just do it like the following example:
Please note that you must be registered with NickServ before you can be assigned a cloak. Your NickServ username is the one you use to identify with on the network.

Unban request
Not exactly sure where to post this, but would it be possible to unban me from the IRC? It seems I was permanently banned from the IRC several months ago because I was apparently chatting very off-topicly (as I stated in my wiki cap nomination, I have ADD and am usually on meds to control it). I feel that this permanent ban really prevents me from joining in discussions that occur on the IRC, and most if not all people who have been nominated for a Wiki Cap have had people talking about how they're always on the IRC. So yeah. Can I get unbanned please so I can actively participate in IRC discussions and such? 404: User Not Found (talk) 17:16, 7 January 2012 (PST)

- Thank you Wind. Though I forget what I actually had done (For some reason, my brain keeps saying "off-topic discussions"), I do apologize and promise it won't happen again. 404: User Not Found (talk) 18:45, 7 January 2012 (PST)
In need of a true Gentleman
To explain to a total IRC retard (me) how you set up a bot to paste RC changes to IRC. The other wiki's I use NEED this. Solly'n'Scout 16:58, 12 February 2012 (PST)
- You need to set up a bot, write code to make it fetch the RC changes, write code to make it say them in the IRC channel, write code to make sure it doesn't say the same changes twice, and keep that bot running 24/7. It is not trivial and I am not aware of any pre-made solutions out there, but if your channel is on freenode, then PM me (WindPower) and we'll talk — Wind 18:02, 12 February 2012 (PST)

irc stats
Do the wiki considered / had in the past some kind of irc stats? (sss, pisg or similar based, to be precise)

does anyone else even use the channel anymore?
It says that people are in the chat but no one is saying anything... BrofessorBeta (talk) 20:00, 2 March 2018 (UTC)
- Activity varies widely. My take is that most of the people signed in but not talking are monitoring. Most of them know each other pretty well, so what else is there for them to say? I get the sense they also side chat. When I query my few gotos, they are usually available. Most are off line when I edit UTC-6 evenings, though. Mikado282 (talk) 00:35, 3 March 2018 (UTC)
How can I register my Nickname?
Hello. I'm having trouble trying to figure where and how can I register my Nickname. I used to be more active on the IRC Channel in the past, and I had my name as Gabrielwoj, I don't remember having to set-up an Username and a Password back in that time. I went to the freenode website, and checked their tutorial on nickname registration, but that doesn't tell me where I should send that message on. I need some help, this feels very confusing and I don't see any guides on the main page about it, maybe we should write one on the page? The freenode page didn't helped much. Thanks. ▪ - 18:49, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- Hiya, you don't have to join a channel - being connected to the network is enough and it requires no authentication. How you would do this in a client varies, but in the web interface you can just choose any nick and leave the channels section blank. The network view will appear and you can send your NickServ messages there. { TidB | t | c } 19:11, 25 October 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks, yeah, I was afraid if that was the wrong way to do it, considering I had to write my password, I wasn't 100% safe of it, later I realized that, since it will be sending to NickServ (I was replacing NickServ to my username), it won't be any issue with my password on Status server. The tutorial on the freenode page didn't exactly mention where exactly to run that command, and there's where I got confused. Thank you for the help. ▪ - 19:27, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Why can't I join?
I know it says something about needing to "register" my nickname and all that, but there is no clear answer on how to do that There's no simple "register username here" button that I can input my email into and all that.
