A little Introduction

If anyone is reading this I would really like some tips and tricks on how to be a great TF2 Wiki editor! I am a mediocre average Japanese Translator. I can work well with editing and just adding simple things to webpages like lines of text and everything to do with that. I don't know how to add files, pngs or wav files etc to webpages. If you teach me something, I may not get it the first time, sorry and please keep trying with me! I am really interested about everything TF2 related and more.

I hope to be beneficial to the TF2 Wiki along with TF2 players and I hope to have fun while doing it!

Well then, I guess that it's time that we get to learning hehe.

Now, the first thing you'll need to learn in order to become a decent TF Wiki editor would be to properly reply to a topic. I have a suspicion that you don't know how to do this, since you just replied to my Welcome message by creating another topic. This is similar to commenting a youtube video...by creating another video, which doesn't really make sense. Instead, you should look for a small edit button right right near the topic's title. This will allow you to edit the topic in question, and add your comment to it. Just like I'm doing right now. Also, make sure that you place a colon (:) before the comment you want to add, as this will indent your comment and make the conversation look nicer. Here is also the edit button you should be searching for (Click on the image to enlarge it):

Secondly: adding files. This really shouldn't be too much of a problem. Just go to the left side of your screen where you'll find the Upload File button. Click on it and it will take you to another page. On this new page, you should click the Choose File button where you can choose which file to upload out of your folder. Then, you can give your file a title in the Destination Filename bar. If your file is something you'll use for your User page, give it a name which starts with: User_XEngiNeerG4mingX_file name.png. After that, select a proper license and you're done. You may now finally upload your image by clicking the Upload File at the bottom of the page. Here is also the Upload File button (Once again, click on the image to enlarge it):

Now that you've uploaded your file, you can use it whenever and in whatever page you desire. To show your file in a page, just type: [[File's name]]. This will present an image on to the page, which you can then modify by typing several commands after the file itself, such as: 10px, 50px, 100px...This will modify the image's size in pixels. Commands left and right will modify the placement of the image, while the command border will add a small outline to the image. Here, have an example of how this should work: [[File's name|100px|left|border]]

Let's move onto the final part: the Translations. Currently, there aren't any active Japanese translators, so you being here is great news. Even if your skills aren't very good (According to you), you can still contribute extensively. But first of, you'll need to read the Help:Language translation before you can begin translating. Make sure to read this help page carefully, very carefully. After that, you should head over to the Team Fortress Wiki:Translation progress/ja, which is the center of the Japanese translations team. There, you can see the list of members, their own rules and noticeboards which you should read, as well as statistics for the the Japanese translations. Now, you said that you aren't a very good translator. If that is true, you can still translate some of the small pages. Like Redirects, Disambiguations and Patch notes. After you improve, you can move onto the bigger, more complex pages.

A note on the colon thing, add however many colons the previous comment had + 1. So if the previous one had 0, add 1. If the previous had 1, add 2 and so forth. If a conversation has too many indents, use {{Outdent}} to outdent the text.
