The Hand Grenade (also Frag Grenade or Normal Grenade) is a grenade in the classic Team Fortress games. It is a timed explosive that causes a substantial amount of damage when it explodes. It is used by every class except the Scout and Civilian in Team Fortress Classic.
Damage
High if right next to explosion; damage decreases the further the target is from the explosion.
Strategies
There exists a useful script that allowed players to time their grenade throws and detonations. This script works for all grenade types. One click would prime your grenade but not throw it, the second would throw it. Skilled and experienced players often used this technique in a duel to throw the frag or other grenade at the right moment. Other players would Kamikaze with their grenades as upon death they were dropped at the corpse if primed but not thrown.
The explosion radius of a frag is larger than its animation, and this should be taken into consideration.
