It seems to me that airblasting enemies so that my team mates can fire upon them gives me assists I didn't read this in the article and I myself am wondering if it is even true? - Meter1060 12:56, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

According to the "Bugs" section (and I quote), "Reflected grenades, Sentry Gun rockets, and Detonator flares all incorrectly inflict 85-170 self-damage (45-90 self-damage if reflected with the Dragon's Fury).". Silly question, but considering this has been the case for years, how do you know it really is a bug? Likio (talk) 00:36, 18 December 2023 (UTC)
I know these kill icons are in the game files, but should it be specified that they're not actually in use right now?  I think it would be best to put in what icons are actually used in the game, with the intended ones just below. About a week ago I got a kill with a deflected flaming arrow and the kill icon was the same as an ordinary flaming arrow bodyshot, so things still aren't fixed.

And perhaps since compression blast is used on the basic FT and degreaser, those weapons should have their kill icon list expanded with the airblast kill icons? (either in use, or the intended ones shown here right now).  Maybe with a template, I'm not too great with this stuff yet but could give it a shot in a couple days. -Unapologetically Bad 14:28, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

Airblasted Snipers
I've just double checked to be sure, and airblasting a scoped sniper doesn't force him to unscope.  A good (or lucky) scoped sniper can still land a shot in the air, it's just harder to aim. Or they could even just try getting some noscopes.  Huntsman snipers however are completely unable to fire unless their feet are on the ground, so it's probably good to specify the difference. Since the goal of airblasting them is to keep them from attacking I'll just break it into two points.  Unapologetically Bad 09:19, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Charging airblasts and two videos...
The section on charging airblasts has little effect on the game itself, as it requires edits to the game files that players and server operators are not expected to make. To tell the truth, my opinion is that the ability should not be any more than a quick trivia note. This section (surprisingly detailed for an ability that is not actually used in the game) beings me to my next point, which concern the two videos used on the page. Neither seems appropriate for the wiki (One of them is a frag video, for crying out loud.), both use custom skins and one demonstrates the aforementioned unused ability. I think that this page should instead use a video provided by the Weapon Demonstration Project (Perhaps the video used for the Flamethrower?) and rid itself of the two videos currently on the page. Thoughts? -<font color="#507D2A">The Neotank</font>&nbsp;(sta<small> | Talk</small>) 03:03, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Compression blast size
One of the lines of trivia says that the compression blast is 280 hammer units. I think that should go in the description on top of the page, since it's useful to know how far the blast reaches, assuming the size translates to "how far away from the projectile/enemy you can be". == Weird airblasting when near teammates - bug or unexpected result of mechanics? ==

Quoting from the article: "Deflected projectiles are essentially stopped and fired again from the Pyro's current position, aimed directly at the object the Pyro's crosshair lies on at the time. This can give strange results if the crosshair is centered on very near objects and players, ..."

What happens in-game is that airblasting near teammates will often deflect the projectile in an unexpected and often harmful direction, due to the Pyro's crosshair being over a nearby teammate.

Should this be classified as bug or not? On one hand, it functions exactly as the article currently describes it. On the other hand, it's a pretty unexpected and counter-intuitive behavior. Are you sure this behavior is unintended by the developers and that the article is not describing the bug as a feature/mechanic?

Reflect Flares
First of all, I was wondering do the correct reflect flare kill icons (the one that looks like a reflected flare) only show when you have a shotgun equipped? Whenever I've gotten a reflected flare kill was when I had a flare gun (scorch shot) equipped, and the kill icon was a minicritted scorch shot kill icon. Also, when I got a reflected flare afterburn kill, it showed as a detonator kill icon (which was the gun I was using), even though the reflected flare was from the default flare gun. Secondly should it be added to trivia or something that when you reflect a Manmelter projectile it comes back a regular looking flare?

Airblast self-damage bug

According to the "Bugs" section (and I quote), "Reflected grenades, Sentry Gun rockets, and Detonator flares all incorrectly inflict 85-170 self-damage (45-90 self-damage if reflected with the Dragon's Fury).". Silly question, but considering this has been the case for years, how do you know it really is a bug? Likio (talk) 00:36, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

In general, reflected projectiles (and projectiles in general) do less damage to yourself than to other players. This is why a crit rocket jump doesn't instantly kill you, for example. Some bugs simply exist for years and aren't fixed. There is no true way of knowing if these are bugs without directly looking at the code, but they go against the expected behaviour of projectile self-damage.
