Auction?
Whats the deal with the wiki auction a couple weeks back? Did you guys just sell out to the guy who bought the domain, and found this new offical wiki? [1]
- Same question as above. This is seriously disturbing. While the people taking part in auction were given analytics and other information, they were not informed that the sale was also because of any potential deals made with Valve to create an official wiki. Even though they were provided with a reason for the sale, the seller knew of information that was crucial to the future of the asset in question (tf2wiki.net) and based his actions off of this information, to profit. In places such as the stock market, this is considered insider trading and is illegal. Someone please tell us whether there is something we're missing here. If the original owner really just sold the old domain and site without telling the buyer, he just conned someone out of 70K that the buyer thought they would earn back over time; with the buyer thinking the seller was selling "to buy a new house". Disregarding the legal ramifications of this, it is seriously ethically and morally disturbing. Someone please talk to the original owner and find out what's going on. - You are missing nothing. That's exactly what's occured. We told the original owner, he demanded over $90k from Valve. We all thought this was unreasonable and thus, because all wiki information is public, we transferred the articles over. This was at least more than one month ago and as such, we assume he's attempting to rake his money back and leave the new owner to loose it all. Pilk has reported this to the auction site and as such we are waiting for a reply. -- Smashman... (t • s) 11:49, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Making another language page?
Please! I need a Dummie's Guide about how to make another language page for an existing article. I've never really edited something like that, or started from scratch, so If someone could provide a step-by-step guide on how to do this, it would be much apreciated. Thanks! --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Ultramalakian (talk) • contribs)

Old TF2Wiki...
Reading on the steam forums En Ex kindly informed me that the new owner of TF2Wiki.net has absolutely nothing to do with this official wiki. Now, that would mean the TF2Wiki has not moved at all (as stated by the page this discussion is regarding). If it was moved, then that would mean either the old or new owner made arrangements with Valve to transfer all the data across, which evidently is not the case as if so the old owner would have had to sell the website with it's Valve-sponsored hosting; and if the new owner, well he'd have something to do with the Wiki - and wouldn't be making any money (lack of ads).
I understand that the old administration is here, as is all of the content (content being in wiki format is of course in public domain), but due to my reasoning above the Wiki has not moved. It has been recreated / replaced. May I request that the page of which this discussion is regarding is re-written to make it clear that the wiki has not been moved.
The wording of this announcement is what made me think Valve bought the old Wiki, which is clearly false and had me share my false intelligence with others.

- From what I know, the wiki was copied, and the owner wanted (or still wants?) to sell the tf2wiki.net domain. See this. WindPower 07:02, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Please stop worrying about this. -- En Ex 09:47, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Or, just wait till later on. I might have a better answer when I wake up. -- En Ex 09:52, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, I'm still awake. Go figure. Ok. TF2Wiki HAS moved, as per this line: "Valve is now generously hosting the content and the site." We've moved to their server space. This site and the old Wiki are separate entities. The old owner had nothing to do with the transfer of this site's contents to Valve's servers. The old owner sold the old Wiki without informing the buyers of the status of the official Wiki. As Pilk said in the SPUF thread, that particular matter is closed. I hope this helps, though I can see how that line might be misconstrued. -- En Ex 10:38, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- AND I revised the line. Hope that makes things clearer. And sorry if I came off as cranky; it's been a hectic day. -- En Ex 10:43, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

Contribution credit
Noes, we lost all our contributions! Oh well, I like the move either way. Faster and no ads. Nice move, Valve! --Jojje 09:42, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

- Absolute music to my ears, good to be back i do most of my editing while at work so pop ups and bright flashing ads are NOT helpfull. Ive got some suggestions to put forward ill find the right page and post away--Markd 10:01, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
Watching pages (my watchlist)
Like a few of us i watch(ed) the recent changes list mainly to stop the link spammers a situation i expect to improve at our new host, however i think it would be a good idea for those of us that are willing to agree to watch certain class pages on a permamanet basis as i am sure a few of us were watching the same pages a more defined split makes more sense.
Im thinking of the base class pages for example. I am allready watching the main solly and heavy pages but am willing to watch a few more if we think this is the way to go. --Markd 10:07, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- I've been considering this. I told Hackett that he's the Strategy mod, so I guess we could split the entire wiki up. -- Smashman... (t • s) 10:31, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Ok "Leeeeet's do iiiiit!" is a template associated with the site index the best way so we can quickly spot unwatched pages for the better editors contributors to adopt as thier own ???--Markd 14:00, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
May I contribute too?
Hey. I saw the part where you said contributors are translating pages from English to other languages, and I got interested. Well, many TF2 players are Brazilian, and so am I, so why there shouldn't be a Portuguese translation for the site? I'm interested in doing it, so please answer me if you accept my offer. --EpicEric 17:48, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for offering to do this. We'd love it if you'd translate pages into Portuguese. Go for it. -- En Ex 21:58, 1 July 2010 (UTC)
