The Flare, as it appears in Quake Team Fortress

The Flare is a grenade that appears in Quake Team Fortress. When the “secondary grenade” key is released, the player will fire a Flare that will move in a straight line, but will stop when it hits a wall. When it hits a wall, it will light up the area around it. It will last for a few seconds, then disappear. It is only used by the Sniper.
