Team Fortress 2 Alpha (referred to as "Xmas Release" ingame) is a multiplayer, team-based first-person shooter, developed by Team Gaben and Valve Corporation. This leaked Alpha version of Team Fortress 2 was Valve's second concept for Team Fortress 2, and featured a Sci-Fi theme with seemingly none of the characters or locations sharing relation to the Half-Life story.
Gameplay
The average Team Fortress 2 Alpha game consists of two teams - the Humans and the Aliens. Gameplay is largely based around "Resources", and collecting more as a team while fighting the other team for them. Resources are chunks that can be picked up by players, which are then added to the Resource bank of their team. There are various ways for players to acquire chunks of Resource. Such ways include killing enemies, destroying enemy objects, or collecting from a Resource Pump.
Each round, or conflict between the two teams, is called an Act. Acts may have a time limit set by the mapper.
Teams
Two teams are present in Team Fortress Alpha; Humans, and Aliens.

Each team has 6 individual classes:
- Commando
- Defender
- Escort
- Medic
- Pyro
- Sapper
Additional classes exist in the coding of the game, but were not yet implemented:
