概要

[一台のRV車が砂漠の道を走ってゆく。カメラが車のCivilianのボブルヘッドの置かれたダッシュボードを映す。手が画面外から伸びてきてボブルヘッドの頭をはじく。] スナイパー: "Boom, headshot." 　　　　　　　　(バーン、ヘッドショット。) ["Meet the Sniper"のタイトルが表示される。バルブアレンジバージョンのMagnum Forceがバッググウンドで流され、RV車を運転するスナイパーが映し出される。] スナイパー: "Snipin's a good job, mate! It's challengin' work, outta doors. I guarantee you'll not go hungry-" 　　　　　　　　(スナイパーってのはいい仕事だぜ、兄弟！やりがいのある仕事だし、それにアウトドアだ。食いっぱぐれないことも俺が保証するぜ。) [スナイパーが歯磨きをしているシーン。洗面所の鏡の傍らにBLUエンジニア、ヘビー、スカウトの写真が貼ってある。エンジニアとスカウトにはバツ印が描いてあるが、ヘビーにはそれが無い。] スナイパー: "-'cause at the end of the day, long as there's two people left on the planet, someone is gonna want someone dead." 　　　　　　　　(たとえ世界の終わりが来て二人だけ取り残されたとしても、他人の死を願う奴がいるから獲物には困らないってわけさ。) [スナイパーのスコープからの視点。スナイパーがヘビーにヘッドショットをする。弾丸は背後にいるデモマンのボトルに当たり粉々に。ボトルの破片がデモマンの目に刺さってしまう。デモマンは混乱しグレネードをそこら中に撒き散らし、足場から落下。グレネードのせいで下にあったドラム缶が大爆発を起こす。] スナイパー: "Ooh." 　　　　　　　　(あらら。) [スナイパーが電話をしているシーン。] スナイパー: "Dad? Dad, I'm a- Ye- Not a "crazed gunman", dad, I'm an assassin! ...Well, the difference bein' one is a job and the other's mental sickness!" 　　　　　　　　(親父？親父、俺は―俺は"イかれたガンマン"じゃないって、殺し屋さ！…何が違うかって俺のは仕事だけど、そっちが言ってるのはビョーキじゃないか！) [RV車内に戻る。] スナイパー: "I'll be honest with ya: my parents do not care for it." 　　　　　　　　(正直言って、両親は俺の仕事が嫌いらしい。) [Gold RushステージCのCP1にある高い塔を上るスナイパー。狙撃のために塔で待ち伏せをしている。] スナイパー: [Glances away from his scope briefly to address the viewer] "I think his mate saw me." 　　　　　　　　[スコープから少しだけ目を離して。](まずいな、見つかったかもしれん。) [弾丸が近くへと飛んでくる。] スナイパー: "Yes, yes he did!" 　　　　　　　　(ああ、やっぱりだ！) [身を守るため姿勢を低くするスナイパー。] [待ち伏せをしているスナイパーの早送り映像。コーヒーを飲みながら待機しているため、傍らの尿の入った瓶が増えてゆく。日が傾き始めた頃に笑顔でライフルの引き金を引くスナイパー。] [Gold RushのステージCにて、襲ってきたスパイの胸をククリで突き刺すスナイパー。満足そうな顔でククリを引き抜く。] スナイパー: "Feelins'? Look mate, you know who has a lot of feelings?" 　　　　　　　　(感情？なぁ、こんな男の話を知ってるか？) [RV車内に戻る。] スナイパー: "Blokes what bludgeon their wife to death with a golf trophy. Professionals have standards." 　　　　　　　　(感情高ぶって自分のカミさんを死ぬまでゴルフのトロフィーで殴り続けた奴を。プロフェッショナルには掟ってのがあるんだ。) [スパイの死体へ敬礼するスナイパー。] スナイパー: "Be polite." 　　　　　　　　(何事も紳士的に、) [スナイパーがメディック、ソルジャー、パイロにヘッドショットをお見舞いする。] スナイパー: "Be efficient." 　　　　　　　　(そして効率的に、) [スナイパーがライフルをリロードしているシーンのスローモーション。] スナイパー: "Have a plan to kill everyone you meet." 　　　　　　　　(出会った者を全て殺すために、計画を持て、とな。) [太陽を背にカメラに向かって発砲するスナイパー。画面がブラックアウトする。] [チームフォートレス2のファンファーレが流れる。] [再びスナイパーが電話をしているシーン。] スナイパー: "Dad.... Dad p-, yeah - put Mum on the phone!" 　　　　　　　　(親父…親父、あー、お袋に代わってくれよ！)

Notes

• スナイパーは1965年製ランドローバーキャンプバンに乗っています。これは彼のゲームスタイルにヒントを得ています。また、彼のバンにはSahara Dustペイントが施されているようにも見えます。

• スナイパーのバンのダッシュボードに置いてあるボブルヘッドは、チームフォートレスクラシックに出てきたCivilianというキャラクターのものです。

• ビデオの冒頭に出てくる看板には"FOAD: Camping Fun, All year round!(キャンプの楽しさを一年中!)"と書かれています。これはスナイパーのゲームスタイルであるキャンプへの皮肉だと思われます。またFOADとはクソプレイヤーへ浴びせられる罵声の頭文字をとったものです(Fuck Off And Die)。

• 劇中でパイロはフレアガンを所持していますが、ビデオの公開時にはまだこの武器の存在は明らかにされていませんでした。

• The jars of urine are also the very first glimpse of Jarate.

• The phrase "Boom, headshot.", popularized by the character 'FPS Doug' in the online comedy series Template:W, is common to the first-person shooter genre.

• スナイパーの掟は米国海兵隊のものによく似ています。: "Be polite, be professional, have a plan to kill everyone you meet."

• The music in the video is an homage to the Magnum Force theme.

• One of the bumper stickers on the Camper reads "MY OTHER CAMPER IS A SWORD VAN!", a reference to one of KC Green's Custom Comics [1].

• A note taped to the windscreen of the camper reads "TAX IN POST", a reference to the popular British comedy 'Only Fools and Horses'.

• The Sniper's van bears the Team Fortress series logo on the roof.

• Originally, the Civilian bobble-head on the dashboard of the camper van at the beginning of the video was a bobble head of the "Old Geezer" from the "Old Geezer Draft Beer" poster found in-game holding a jug of apricot brandy. It was later replaced because the intended Sniper reference was too obscure for people to understand [2].

• タイトルカードの右下に"COPYRIGHT LOLOLOL"と書かれています。これは"Meet the Team"ビデオの全てに見られるジョークです。

• ビデオの冒頭に出てくる道路標識には、スナイパーライフルのヘッドショットの旧バージョンのキルアイコンが描かれています。

• The Sniper's camper van was eventually turned into a model by Valve for map and machinima makers.

• スナイパーの三つの掟は実績の名前に使われています。

• The Sniper's Sniper Rifle is leaning against the wall during the clip played for the "Be Polite" standard (at 1:12). However, in the shot directly preceding it, where the Spy is stabbed with the Kukri (at 1:05), the Sniper Rifle is not there.

• ロシア版では、スナイパーに撃たれたデモマンは ボトル でなくガラスの破片を持っています。
