+ | :::::You asked "why isn't something like [the video] on the wiki?". It is of poor quality, and the wiki provides more than enough information on rocket jumping. You were asking for help on the wiki's talk page, which is for discussing the page, not asking for help on the game, while complaining that the wiki doesn't have the information you want. The wiki should only contain accurate information. —Rocket Ship BBQ(•) 22:49, 15 November 2011 (PST) |

Pootis jump info!
Alright, as per the discussion on Talk:Rocket jump, all jump-related content should be moved in to this article. Because of the mass of content we have regarding jumps just merging everything in would result in a very messy article. I would like this page to be (re)written with information about jumps. Use the other articles for reference. -RJ 18:24, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Because there is a lot of stuff to be written in, please use the following table to either designate yourself in charge of a specific section (please, regular and experienced contributors only); and give an estimated progress percentage of how much you have written vs how much would be adequate. Everybody is welcome to contribute, but those who designate themselves will oversee a specific section will be responsible in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of what's written about that specific jump-related topic.

- Done Wow, Zoolooman has been busy! I think it's safe to consider this article complete. Great work, Zoolooman. -RJ 16:41, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
Merger
I thought the idea was to hold sections for all the jumps, but Rocket jump & Sticky jump would have separate articles and remain summarised on here. Now there's just one huge page? Rocket jumping & sticky jumping are much larger topics, individual pages should be dedicated to them, in my opinion. seb26 [talk] 04:41, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
- Honestly, I don't see a problem with both types of jumps being in the Jumping article. Sure, it'll be a long article, but I think creating individual articles for sticky and rocket jumps would result in two small, unmaintained pages. ~

(talk ▪ contrib) 04:47, 20 October 2010 (UTC)- Personally, I think there should be separate articles for the Rocket Jump and the Sticky Jump. They are techniques essential to playing the Soldier and Demoman class and deserve their own pages. 8-Bit Lincoln 18:17, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
Section ordering
The ordering of the types of jumps appear to be listed in a somewhat random order at the moment (unless 'frequency of usage' is the intended order?). Wouldn't it make more sense to list the types in the same manner that most lists use, in Class order?
On a side-note, "Pyro jump" feels out of place as a header, considering every other jump type involving a weapon is named after the weapon used to make said jump. I do believe "Reflect jump" or "Compression jump" are possible substitutions, unless a more fitting label can be found. Disaster 05:13, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
- They're ordered in terms of popularity, and they should be called Pyro rocket jumps because that's what everyone else calls them. Zoolooman 17:51, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Boston Basher Jump
Using the Boston Basher, you can perform ridiculous jumps by damaging yourself with it, give more airtime. I believe a section should be added describing and demonstrating this technique. Anyone in favor? Sonic Nova 22:10, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
- Boston Jump needs more information. The description is too brief and doesn't actually explain how it works. Markfrompoland 16:16, 4 February 2011 (UTC)
Hammer units
Guys, I'm not into it and I don't know, but recently there's been an edit changing line about how many Hammer units of height you gain by jumping. Could someone also change the one about crouching mid-air, it's mentioned there as well? Markfrompoland 11:56, 6 February 2011 (UTC)
Flare jump
The detonator links here, but no mention of either the detonator, or the flare jump; when is this going to be added?
And I also don't like the name 'flare jump', as that would indicate the use of a flare gun, which it doesn't; I'd opt for det-jump, but that's just my opinion.

Charge Long Jump
I'm not 100% if it is applicable here but I don't think ramp sliding completely covers what you can do with charging. You can jump and charge or just straight charge to get great distance (way more than regular jump). I just simply feel that this should be included here. This technique is very helpful when you have to get to a place below you I can try to make a demo video.

5 jumps?!
the article says using the FAN and atomizer you can jump 5 times. but you only get 1 extra jump from the FAN, so this isnt true, right? http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Force-A-Nature . so yeh, fix that — The preceding unsigned comment was added by DJLO (talk) • (contribs)
- The FAN has 2 shots before it has to reload, my guess is that you should be able to get the second shot in fast enough to go another step higher seb26 00:03, 26 August 2011 (PDT)
Remove exploits having been patched out?
They don't seem to serve much relevance to anyone who's looking at stuff like rocket jumping, which is currently relevant to the game. Both listed exploits are covered under the Exploits article, anyway. --Xenaero 13:15, 1 September 2011 (PDT)
Add Video to G.R.U. Jump
I have made a video for GRU jump. Can I edit it? I have found this a pretty long time ago, but only posted now to the youtube.
I did that quickly switching weapons, that was I thought how to use...
Gabrielwoj 06:23, 6 November 2011 (PST)
- No Unfortunately, "GRU jumping" as described on this page is not switching weapons in midair as to lose less HP, but rather to time the HP loss, which causes knockback, to propel you enough to get across certain jumps. Additionally, unprofessional, should be added to GRU's weapon demonstration instead. Not that the other videos on the page are any more professional. —Rocket Ship BBQ(•) 12:45, 6 November 2011 (PST)
- Ah, well no problem. I didn't know much about it. Thanks anyways.

Rocket jump extended description
I see expert rocket jumping all the time, and I play locally and think I understand it, but then when I play online I can't rocket jump without (1) doing massive self damage or (2) going very far at all. The description of crouch jumping is also similarly vague that I can't tell when to crouch, before, during, or after the jump.
Can someone please provide an extended rocket jump tutorial for dummies? Maybe rocket jumping school? Since Macs can't seem to load custom maps these days, could the instruction be on a standard map?
Thanks for all your help wiki dudes. Liquidefeline 23:01, 14 November 2011 (PST)
- Okay, so after months of searching, did I find the explanation here?: http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=IOh4eo4fvwk (seriously dudes, why isn't something like this on the wiki?) Liquidefeline 23:24, 14 November 2011 (PST)
- No Unfortunately, this wiki doesn't contain possibly biased strategies or tutorials, it only contains factual things such as "crouch jumping increases rocket jump height". Additionally, this is the wrong place to ask. Go to a forums to ask for help on the game. For your information anyways, rocket jumping usually involves Jump→Crouch→Fire Rocket Behind You (preferably at a nearby wall for distance, at the ground for height)→Maneuver through air. —Rocket Ship BBQ(•) 23:41, 14 November 2011 (PST)
- During gameplay, there are mentions of rocket jumping, specifically the load screen and the "Rocket Jumper." If the only official manual for this game is this web site, it seems to me that this site should provide basic rocket jumping instructions. All of the strategy pages go well beyond basic ideas of what can happen in the game and mention what one should do to play better in the game. Not to mention that knowledge of the correct order of hitting buttons is a basic fact. I think I have nullified your argument. :) Liquidefeline 23:53, 14 November 2011 (PST)
- The site does provide basic instruction on an advanced topic. Rocket jumping, while extremely helpful, is not necessary for one's success. The site does not need to have horrible video tutorials, something the wiki does not tolerate. —Rocket Ship BBQ(•) 00:01, 15 November 2011 (PST)
