The Cold War Luchador is a promotional miscellaneous item for the Heavy. It is a black luchador mask with gold and team-colored designs, similar to the one worn by Killbane in the game Saints Row: The Third.
This item was awarded in Genuine quality to players who pre-ordered Saints Row: The Third on Steam before November 15, 2011.
Update history
- The Cold War Luchador was added to the game.
Bugs
- This miscellaneous item has significant clipping issues with various Headwear and Miscellaneous items.
- The backpack icon shows the hat's gold elements as being bright green.
Unused content
- The Cold War Luchador has a texture that allows for paint to be applied, however the item is not paintable.
Trivia
- In Saints Row: The Third, the Luchadores are one of the 3 rival gangs.
- This type of wrestling mask is used in "lucha libre", a term used in Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries for a form of professional wrestling.
- The word "luchador" translates literally to "fighter", although it can also mean "wrestler".
- The description references the Template:W, a confrontation between USA and USSR in October of 1962 after it came to light that the Soviet government was secretly building nuclear missile bases in Cuba. It is considered that the Cuban Missile Crisis was the closest the world ever came to nuclear war.
- As with Homefront, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Red Faction: Armageddon, Saints Row: The Third was not available for pre-order in the United Kingdom, making this item unobtainable in Genuine quality in that region.
