− | What happened to the section explaining the counters which don't track kills (i.e. Medi Gun tracks Ubercharges, Wrench tracks Sentry kills)? − | : The same thing happened to me. TWICE. I suddenly found a strange weapon I'd never seen before in my backpack, complete with drop notification. And no, I did not trade for them and then mysteriously got amnesia. (I'm not really interested in stranges and if I uncrate one I usually sell it off unless it's a Medic or Pyro weapon. And I rarely if ever bother to open crates unless they're holiday crates. In fact, the number of stranges I got from crates I opened is five, and I can tell you exactly what they were: shovel, homewrecker, medigun, spycicle, stickybomb launcher.) I found the first one, a Strange Scotsman's Skullcutter, on Day 2 of my first tentative venturing out into public online servers, back during the Scream Fortress 2012 event. (Up to then I had only played in offline training modus.) Being a newbie and not knowing about the TF2 Wiki or trading sites then, I didn't know what the hell a strange was and traded it away for some unique weapons or a handful of voodoo-cursed items or something. So unfortunately I cannot show the Skullcutter as proof, and being a newbie I didn't make a screenshot of the find because I didn't know that what had happend should be impossible. :( The 2nd one was a Strange Neon Annihilator, also in 2012; that too I sold off because I already had a unique N.A. (dammit), but I think I got it either during Halloween or Smissmass. Perhaps that's a pattern? Might the Haunted Halloween Gifts that spawned on Ghostfort have anything to do with it? Because I managed to locate and grab a lot of those. Again, baseless speculation, sorry. But those two weapons, I sure as heck don't know where else they could have come from. --Knusperfrosch 05:45, 9 March 2013 (PST)

− | :::: @Hinaomi - I replied to Fyaweather's claim that "No one else has ever reported such a thing." by reporting two additional such instances, from a time when I didn't have keys to waste on normal crates. How else are people going to report something if they're being to told to shut up simply because a thread is a few months old? The issue still stands. (If I ever find a strange I didn't uncrate, I'll make damn sure to make screenshots to document if the weapon origin says "uncrated" or "drop".) Out of the total population of TF2 players how many people do you think frequent this Wiki, and what percentage of them actually reads the Discussion page, and how many of those would bother to make an account just to report something no-one will believe them? It's like fossil hunting. --Knusperfrosch (talk) 23:42, 20 September 2013 (PDT)

− | Holiday punch's leveling up system is same as normal weapons (it's just different name). And the buff banner also follows the generic leveling up system. Hope this solved your answer. Drsteiner12 00:28, 15 January 2013 (PST)

− | == Strange Crates Pattern ==
| |
− | I have noticed, that the crates sometimes bring the stranges from the past again, for example, the scattergun, the rocket launcher, and the medigun. While there are many more weapons that haven't been dropped in strange quality, some are coming back. Is there a certain pattern how the strange weapons in crates are decided? Drsteiner12 02:27, 13 January 2013 (PST)
| |

− | Can anyone confirm the fact is wrapping actually will reset counters? Because I've got some proofs to wrapping is still keep them. − | == Robots Destroyed Ranks ==
| |
− | | |
− | They're apparently also unused like the Dispenser healing. My Festive Flame Thrower has 123 kills and over 1500 robots destroyed and it's still Uncharitable. Blazios 07:03, 24 March 2013 (PDT)
| |
− | : Mainly because, Stranges only rank based on one "Primary" way of ranking up. Robots destroyed do not count as a method to rank up. Strange parts are really just added counters. Similar to how the medigun tracks assists but only levels by ubers. Ashes 07:42, 24 March 2013 (PDT)
| |
− | :: However, the Strange part robots destroyed appears to have a counter of its own, as shown by this template. I would like some evidence before removing it, though. Can you link a screenshot of your Flamethrower? 'Stache 08:07, 24 March 2013 (PDT)
| |
− | ::: Ok, Normally a strange part shouldn't have its own counter. However, yes more proof is required before anything is done. If anyone reading this and has this Strange part, Feel free to test it. (Screenshots or demo would be great) Thanks :D Ashes 08:09, 24 March 2013 (PDT)

− | :::::Based on that image. It looks like Robots destroyed part is just a sub counter like all other strange parts. So it shouldn't be able to rank up. Unless anyone else has any input I'm fine with removing it off the template. Ashes 19:10, 24 March 2013 (PDT)

− | == what happened to the rank table? ==
| |
− | | |
− | It used to tell you the different rank levels of both normal Stranges and others that had custom ranks, such as the Holiday Punch and Sapper. Why is it now only showing the basic, default table for these?

− | :I recently changed the table because it wasn't clear what the table was showing other than the standard ranks, and it looked out of place with the rest of the page. There were also issues with what the table was linking to in places. It'd probably be best if someone added/created a table, or set of tables, that showed the ranks in a much easier to understand fashion. --Omolong (talk) 11:13, 18 July 2013 (PDT)

− | I wanted to check today if the Invis Watch can rank up by standing idle next to a resupply locker (just out of curiosity), I was on an empty server to do this, yet I noticed that my counter would not go up, even when I moved around. Do strange items like this not go up when the server is empty? If so, how many people need to be on the server for this to count? --Shnowshner (talk) 18:06, 8 August 2013 (PDT)

− | :::: Like I'd said, tried everything I could to have it update; leaving spawn, jumping, moving, letting cloak drain out, rapidly clicking M2, yet nothing happened. And just now, I tested to see if it went up when a bot was on a server, and it went up, unlike how other stranges don't work on bots (AFAIK). It appears the invis watch WILL only track seconds cloaked when there is another person or bot on the server.
