Just as an FYI to page updaters, the beard was never intended to be paintable when it was submitted to the workshop. When Valve accepted it, they made it paintable (by mistake or just wanting all beards to be paintable, I do not know). I've been working on a fix and will submit that either today or tomorrow and hopefully Valve will accept it. Not sure if this is trivia worthy or not. Just as an FYI to page updaters, the beard was never intended to be paintable when it was submitted to the workshop. When Valve accepted it, they made it paintable (by mistake or just wanting all beards to be paintable, I do not know).
