Allowing yourself to be set on fire with the B.A.S.E. Jumper deployed will allow you to maximize the advantages in mid-air (almost infinite Air Strike barrages, unexpected rockets from above, less visibility, etc.) since you can stay in the air much, much, much longer at the cost of 60+ hp. I think the strategical use of being set on-fire should be noted. J192 (talk) 06:34, 20 June 2014 (PDT)

Well, several months has passed and everyone knew about this but no patch was released and I could easily say that it seems to be intended. It's also realistic as it works similarly to hot air balloons.

I don't even think this can be used as an 'exploit' because of how you take damage overtime and that it only lasts for 10 seconds until you experience afterburn again, which will again deplete your health overtime.

I think that Valve should make the Whirly Warrior, the B.A.S.E. Jumper and the Air Strike a set, and the effect being air raid siren with spotlight shooting out and up from behind the soldier while the soldier salutes. It would make a very nice themed new set for one of the potential new updates in the future. If anyone agrees with me please tell me. Currently going over all of the existing weapons and their stat cards on the wiki to make sure they're accurate to their in-game variants, and it appears that in-game there is a "The" in the B.A.S.E. Jumper's name, which the wiki's version lacks. I also don't see a way in the editor to fix this. The Salt God (talk) 23:38, 23 October 2024 (UTC)

Should it be noted?

Allowing yourself to be set on fire with the B.A.S.E. Jumper deployed will allow you to maximize the advantages in mid-air (almost infinite Air Strike barrages, unexpected rockets from above, less visibility, etc.) since you can stay in the air much, much, much longer at the cost of 60+ hp. I think the strategical use of being set on-fire should be noted. J192 (talk) 06:34, 20 June 2014 (PDT)

Being able to suspend in air while on fire is a glitch, I don't think VALVe intended that. This is more of abusing the glitch than a legit strategy. But if Valve approves of the technique and doesn't patch it, I guess it's fair game. --  Heeeeyyyy, everybody! It's Meester Tweester!   13:11, 12 July 2014 (PDT)
I'm pretty sure it's intentional: it's essentially what makes a hot-air balloon work. In fact, it used to say that on the page, but someone must've removed it. And actually, I view the "infinite" hovering as more of a curse than a blessing; you're slowed down even more and therefore a very easy target. RiversofItaly (talk) 18:03, 4 August 2014 (PDT)
It seems more of a bug/exploit. So i doubt it was intentional to let soldiers and demomen to just hover around infinitely. It would break the game. So its not notable honestly. Ashes (talk) 18:30, 4 August 2014 (PDT)

Suggestion

Xxpowerhouserxx (talk) 22:10, 1 July 2014 (PDT)

"The" B.A.S.E. Jumper
