Heavy's Speed
For comparison's sake, with the GRU equipped you're faster than Demomen and Soldiers, but slower than everyone else. (nanosheep_inc) 01:04, 2 October 2010 (UTC)
Is it me or does having the 30% increase make the heavy faster than the base speed?
77 (Heavy's base speed) x .3 = 23.1 77 + 23.1 = 100.1
So only slightly faster but faster nonetheless?
BASEBALLFURES 05:18, 2 October 2010
- This is accurate; the actual speed boost is to only 299 HU/second however. You may consider bringing this discrepancy to Robin's attention; I think the speed should probably be exactly equal to the baseline (rounding down a fraction of an HU). Surrealistik 01:59, 4 October 2010 (UTC)
Tips
Thank you for adding tips on how to use the GRU. No doubt this will be most helpful to readers. Unfortunately, such tips normally belong on the class's strategy page in order to avoid unnneccesary cluttering. So if you could move them and put further tips on the strategy page, that would be great. Strategy page section is here.--Focusknock 12:47, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Video
Perhaps a better video to use > http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UM0gt4yqwFU
I realise I made it, but I think it shows off the potential for the GRU's boosted jump a bit better, and is of higher quality to the video on the existing page. Mittens 02:48, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
G.R.U. as weakest melee weapon
If we can assume that whatever data written within the pages are of <2% percentage error, then would this mean that the G.R.U. is the weakest melee weapon to date?
The G.R.U. deals 1 point less damage in mini-crits that that of the Axtinguisher. I believe mini-crits are of specific damage, and it does not take an event where it picks a random integer between minimum to maximum.
If you look into it, unlike the Equalizer and the Axtinguisher, it deals 50% less damage in all instances when equipped. Though it may be true that it's damage can be tied with that of a 200+ HP Soldier or to non-burning targets, the fact still stays that it deals the same damage even if the G.R.U. registers a crit, or if the Heavy has less than 100 health, or if any other event happens, it wouldn't really matter.

- Actually, now, the Fan-o-War is the weakest melee weapon. Only 5 damage. --SpaceAnimator 08:41, 29 August 2011 (PDT)
We know the High Jumps, but what about Distance?
From the Vid. on the article, we know about Heavy's ability to do a minor double jump to reach new hights and such. But what about distance? ive seen a few Heavys here and there actually reach 2Fort's Bridge. Gamecrazy009 01:28, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
The GRU's "marked for death" status after switch was increased recently
Nobody seems to have documented this on the Wiki, but from my research it seems like the time that the player is marked for death after switching has been increased from 3 seconds to 5 seconds at some point in the last 8 months.
I first noticed it about two months ago some time before the Love & War update. I think it was early June (most likely the June 11 update, but I don't know how to make sure). At least a couple of other people noticed too over at this thread on /r/tf2: http://en.reddit.com/r/tf2/comments/27zviq/has_anyone_noticed_anything_about_the_gru_since/ which didn't receive much attention. Of course, this is just anecdotal evidence so it doesn't really mean much by itself.
If you compare the amount of time that the "marked for death" symbol appears in the Weapon Demonstration video (the one from 8 months ago) to how long the symbol stays for now (which you can obviously test in-game), you should notice that it's significantly longer now. I timed it using that console command that slows down the game and it came to roughly 5 seconds.
+35% damage with no fall-off for 2 extra seconds on is a pretty big deal IMO and I'm surprised that it hasn't really been noticed. Is anyone interested in doing further testing and edit the page accordingly just in case I've messed up somehow?

GRU + Disciplinary Action stacking?

MvM version
During the Jungle Inferno Update a second version of the GRU was added to the game which has the old pre-Jungle Inferno stats and is used exclusively by MvM bots. This alternate version is mentioned nowhere on this page or the Jungle Inferno page, only on the Heavy Robot page.
Given other MvM bot exclusive items are also documented, e.g. Deflector and Gate bot hat, shouldn't this second GRU also be more clearly documented and probably given it's own page? The item schema calls it "Gloves of Running Urgently MvM" though based on the item attributes it should still just be called "Gloves of Running Urgently" when viewed in-game.
