However, an Overhealer-like Medigun has come up in the beta. It still has the non-decaying overheal, but it now only overheals up to 150%, like the regular Medigun. Also, instead of the Ubercharge rate being lowered or removed, the new Overhealer heals the target at half the rate of the regular Medigun. However, since this "new" weapon is still in beta, it may be changed or scrapped completely.

The Medic on massive healing capabilities

The Overhealer is a scrapped unlockable secondary weapon for the Medic. It appears nearly identical to the standard Medi Gun, but has two nozzles in the front instead of one.

The Overhealer would boost a player's health to 200% of their maximum; however, unlike the Medi Gun's 150% overheal, this boost would not decay over time. The trade-off is that the Overhealer's ÜberCharge was to fill very slowly or possibly not at all.[1]

Eventually the Overhealer was shelved due to balancing issues in the game.[2]

Trivia

  • This weapon's functionality is very similar to Medi Gun Beta 1, another scrapped Medi Gun with non-decaying overheal.
  • This weapon was eventually replaced by the Kritzkrieg. The model and materials for the Kritzkrieg attachment bear the filename overhealer
