Apologizing Mikado282 (talk) 19:26, 2 April 2014 (PDT)

In English articles -specially hats- there are some trivia that are being deleting and, well, I would want to know why. Specially for a friend, he really wants to know. I think that these things is due to people editing articles to get the wiki cap. We have one problem with an user and... well, nevermind. Only that question.

Odin Reference  in War!
:I think the reason for people deleting trivia is because in some cases it tends to get out of control with uninteresting tidbits that have little to do with the article in question. And while there have been a recent upsurge of minor edits for folks hoping to get a wiki cap, I'm not sure if this is one such case. If you feel one user is being disruptive, let us know either here or on IRC. <br>And you're welcome, I'm happy to help fixing any errors for pages. --Piemanmoo mod 22:29, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

::"Dear TF2 Wiki Administrator,

I believe I can reasonably expect that you can recognize that the statue in WAR! is in reference to Odin.  Perhaps the main Odin reference isn’t the problem. But let me back up a bit.

::I am writing this message in representation of a group of Spanish volunteer translators, who are editing the Spanish version of this Wiki. The reason for which I write to you is to complain about a user, Ryo, who is interfering in our work.

When I first saw the MONOCULUS, it immediately reminded me of the Odin’s Eye monster from The Mighty Thor series.  I admit, the coincidence of one-eyed god and a one-eyed mercenary slipped past me at that time. I have read WAR! comic a few times, I’m embarrassed to say that I missed the that the statue is Odin for so long.  And how fitting is it to place a god of war in a comic titled War!?  But on page 14, they shove it in your face, eye-to-eye, as it were!

::We are aware that a Wiki is an open resource that can be modified by anyone, and we respect that kind of format. Nevertheless, this particular user is screwing up all we manage to do.
+
But then, why even place the shield with the statue?  Ravens and spear? Yes. Ravens and spear is how you tell the reader that the statue is supposed to be Odin. But did Odin have a famous shield?  I am not sure that he did. But even if he did, why put a MONOCULUS-like eye on the shield, when a symbol for the Eye of Odin (cross over a circle) resembles the TF2 trademark?

::He barely speaks Spanish correctly, let alone translating an article from English. He is constantly undoing other members' submussions, claiming that our work is inappropriate, when the most inappropriate work is, in fact, his. He does so with a great number of articles, several times a day.

#A God of War statue in a comic titled WAR!  Fitting, yes, but why?  Wouldn’t any old statue do for the beheading demo?  Why not a famous statue?  Michelangelo’s David?  Or Rodan’s Thinker?  No. Who the statue is is important here.
 +
#Not Mars, not Ares, with their heads full of eyeballs, but the one-eyed boozer Odin.
 +
#Both Odin and Demoman have an eye removed.  OK.  That explains the selection of Odin.
 +
#But wait, both of the removed eyes become giant flame/eye bomb shooting monsters!?!?
 +
#The inexplicable eye on the shield. WHY?   An eye on a shield is not an Odin thing. That shape of that eye is not a Norse or Medieval style. That eye looks like no eye in Heraldry; but, it looks like MONOCULUS.
 +
So, I hope you can consider that, at the face of it, at least the placement of the Odin reference at Demoman’s house was deliberate.  OK, comparing their notorious drinking habits, weak.   But, were the publishers thinking of Odin's Eye and MONOCULUS at that time?  Not absolutely certain, but the eye on the shield is at least an interesting coincidence.

::My team and I think that this can be considered as vandalism, so we are requesting your taking part in this conflict. We are aware that the Spanish version of the Wiki must seem of little importance in comparison with the great engine of the original version, but since our goal is the same -to spread quality information-, we find ourselves in the need of asking for some help from the Wiki Administration.

And he likes to translates making spanish version of english words (Crafting is not "Fabricación", it's "Craftear". Trade is "Tradear", and a lot of more things). He he strongly criticized us saying "The other guy used Google to translate this" or "Bad translating" even "Please, this user is making all bad, actions should be taken". He is a teen "fixing" errors from an user that is making a degree on English language. And he claims to me that he wants the Wiki Cap.

Hi Piemanmoo, I read your conversation with Sr.Domi in your discussion page y queria decirle algunas cosas.

He said that I edit only for Wiki Cap, and this is false. My first contribution to the wiki was the Sept. 17, When i did not know nothing about it.

He made a group to translate it.

Sr.Domi removed me from the group because I translated an article by putting  Kame instead of Hadouken.

He insulted me by the steam chat, and we get angry, I still contact one of that group, his name is SpiderGMan, and he supported me in things like "Highlander Community Challenge" should not be translated. He is a good friend.

I did an article (http://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Currently_unreleased_content/es), and things that in the Spanish have not been translated as "Highlander Communty ETF2L Challenge" or "Contest Artpass map", the Sr.Domi translated literally, but the name isn't official, because Valve never translated it.

The proof is that the official website in both English (http://etf2l.org/highlander/?l=en) and in Spanish (http://etf2l.org/highlander/?l=es) the name is the same.

I think in the Wiki that should it put the translation as Valve and not create your own traduction, Valve does not literally translate all languages of form.

The Sr.Domi's translates sometimes look like a Google Translator.

Piemanmoo greetings!, and I hope you understand me :) --Ryo 23:23, 27 October 2010 (UTC)

Odin Reference in War!

Do you disagree with the Odin reference? Mikado282 (talk) 21:20, 17 April 2014 (PDT)

Patiently permit me to restart (without the indenture). I hope that you will reconsider my Odin trivia, at least in the core premise, or at least help me revise it to be acceptable.

I believe I can reasonably expect that you can recognize that the statue in WAR! is in reference to Odin. Perhaps the main Odin reference isn’t the problem. But let me back up a bit.

OK,

 1. A God of War statue in a comic titled WAR! Fitting, yes, but why? Wouldn’t any old statue do for the beheading demo? Why not a famous statue? Michelangelo’s David? Or Rodan’s Thinker? No. Who the statue is is important here.
 2. Not Mars, not Ares, with their heads full of eyeballs, but the one-eyed boozer Odin.
 3. Both Odin and Demoman have an eye removed. OK. That explains the selection of Odin.
 4. But wait, both of the removed eyes become giant flame/eye bomb shooting monsters!?!?
 5. The inexplicable eye on the shield. WHY? An eye on a shield is not an Odin thing. That shape of that eye is not a Norse or Medieval style. That eye looks like no eye in Heraldry; but, it looks like MONOCULUS.

Thank you for your consideration. Mikado282 (talk) 00:08, 18 April 2014 (PDT)
