I noticed that this wiki is generating old-style embeds.  (Go to a video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h42d0WHRSck) and click for the embed links, toggle old-style on and off.)  This method forces flash so users never benefit from the HTML5 player.  It is really annoying for users that don't have flash (like myself).

If I am correct you are using the embed video plugin from here: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:EmbedVideo.  This uses the new-style embeds so I can only think that the plugin is out of date.  Could that be updated?  <strike>If it can't I could update the template to do all of the same things in a jiffy (seeing as it is youtube only anyway).</strike> You can't write a template because you are not allowed to create iframes from wiki pages.  The plugin will need to be updated.

Annoyance

I'm not a fan of this new youtube embedding method. It's never inline with the text. It's pretty annoying. Anyone agree? I'd rather the embed be inline than as a thumb on the side. -- Smashman... (ts) 21:12, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

I'd have to agree. -- En Ex 21:14, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Yep, looked better on the old Wiki, if you look here, it's difficult to get it to look nice. -Firestorm 21:15, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
And I'm not a fan of the box and description thing. -- Smashman... (ts) 21:17, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
Yep, don't see a point, the page will probably describe it anyway. Perhaps the {{youtube tn}} template has the box but the {{youtube}} one does not -Firestorm 21:20, 29 June 2010 (UTC)
It does, but I disabled the {{BASEPAGENAME}} description, I felt it unnecessary. Also, SIGN YOUR POSTS BOY. -- Smashman... (ts) 21:25, 29 June 2010 (UTC)

Widescreen

With most of the videos being embedded with this template being in 720p, maybe it's time that the embed code was changed to a widescreen player? TheChrisD RantsEdits 20:58, 3 November 2010 (UTC)

Could that be updated? If it can't I could update the template to do all of the same things in a jiffy (seeing as it is youtube only anyway). You can't write a template because you are not allowed to create iframes from wiki pages. The plugin will need to be updated.
