+ | I've [https://wiki.teamfortress.com/w/index.php?title=User:ThatHatGuy/Sandbox&oldid=3597319 tested] condensing the community MVM operation medals down, to reduce template size, and perhaps improve readability, as more medals continue to be added for new operations; however, as you can see from the source code in my sandbox page, it's a little more complicated on the condensed table than it is on the current one -- users would have to supply their own language strings for each medal, I think, rather than relying solely on automated item links to fill in the names for us, unless there's a way to automate that which I haven't thought of.
+ | |||
+ | What are our thoughts? Stick with the current format, or condense it down to just listing each operation's name once? As this ''is'' specifically a listing of different promotional items, I'd at least like to continue to specify which medals are from which operation; I'm trying to see if there's a way I can clean this up, while still managing to do that. — [[File:User ThatHatGuy Signature Icon.png|30px|link=User:ThatHatGuy]] 12:32, 1 January 2024 (UTC)

Ordering by promotion date?
Should we re-order this template based on the dates of the promotions, as opposed to alphabetical order? I feel that sorting it by promotion date would give it a better feel. --LordKelvin 20:22, 23 March 2011 (UTC)
Syntax for Noise Makers
At the moment, the noise makers have links that look like
[[Noise_Maker#Shogun_Pack{{if lang}}]]
This isn't correct. Looking at a Russian weapons page, that link is re-written to point to be
[[Noise_Maker#Shogun_Pack.%2Fru]]
This is obviously incorrect, as the actual page and section are:
[[Noise_Maker/ru#.D0.A8.D1.83.D0.BC.D0.B5.D0.BB.D0.BA.D0.B8_.C2.AB.D0.A1.D1.91.D0.B3.D1.83.D0.BD.C2.BB]]
I don't know deep wiki magic, so I don't know how to fix this properly - So could someone come up with some method of making this Just Work? - I was thinking that adding the English section names to the sections on translated pages would make work, but I'm not sure if it makes sense. Condensing Community MVM Operation Medals
I've tested condensing the community MVM operation medals down, to reduce template size, and perhaps improve readability, as more medals continue to be added for new operations; however, as you can see from the source code in my sandbox page, it's a little more complicated on the condensed table than it is on the current one -- users would have to supply their own language strings for each medal, I think, rather than relying solely on automated item links to fill in the names for us, unless there's a way to automate that which I haven't thought of.
What are our thoughts? Stick with the current format, or condense it down to just listing each operation's name once? As this is specifically a listing of different promotional items, I'd at least like to continue to specify which medals are from which operation; I'm trying to see if there's a way I can clean this up, while still managing to do that. — 12:32, 1 January 2024 (UTC)
- I think a condensed look is better, but if it needs a separate string for each language it's probably best to find another solution (or find some fix for this). I propose we link to the reward section of each Operation page instead of having 3-4 links to that section under different names. They all already link to that section anyway.
