The story begins with Miss Pauling and a filmmaker (the eponymous "Director") accompanying the RED Sniper on his drive to Teufort. In the camper, the Director repeatedly asks questions labeling Sniper as a victim, visibly aggravating him to the threat of violence. Upon arrival, Miss Pauling assures Sniper the interviews are a form of public relations, to show the public the mercenaries are more than "just armed psychopaths."  Back in the control room, the Administrator reveals to Pauling her true motive: keeping tabs on the mercenaries whom she believes, despite their perceived lack of intelligence, are still incredibly dangerous if not spied on from time to time.

The story begins with Miss Pauling and the Director riding along with the RED Sniper in his camper van as he drives to a battle at 2Fort. The Director constantly asks the Sniper insulting questions about his work and home life and makes remarks about his sanity. The Sniper is obviously aggravated, even threatening the Director with physical violence. Upon arrival, Miss Pauling reminds Sniper that the interviews are an attempt at positive PR, intended to save face with the locals of Badlands, New Mexico.

The Director attempts to interview the rest of RED, with seemingly little success. Meanwhile, an unknown messenger is being restrained and interrogated by the RED mercs - It is implied that each person interviewed has been blackmailed with potentially compromising photographs (save for the Soldier, whose collection of heads was stolen and held for ransom instead.) The Administrator appears on the miniature television mounted in the now dead agent's chest and reveals she was the source of the photographs (and stolen heads), demonstrating her new-found leverage and potential modes of retaliation should the mercenaries ever discuss the terms of their contract.

The scene then cuts to a discussion Miss Pauling previously shared with the Administrator, wherein she reveals to Miss Pauling her true motive for hiring the Director: keeping tabs on the mercenaries. The Administrator realizes that the mercenaries know about her, TF Industries, and pose a potential threat.

Elsewhere, Miss Pauling leads the Director into a mineshaft under the guise of an interview with the Administrator. * The Sniper's last name is revealed in this comic. So far, every TF2 comic has been an opportunity to discover at least one of the Mercenary's names, as with the Soldier and Demoman (Though it is likely that the Soldier has an alias) and the Engineer

* The Sniper's surname is revealed as Mundy.
* The Administrator suggests that she wants to Spy on the mercenaries, though in the "WAR!" comic, a fully operating surveillance system is used (Such as spotting the RED Spy disguising as the BLU Scout). This may or may not hint that the events of "Meet the Director" take place before those of the "War!" comic.

** Revealing the name of a mercenary has been a tradition throughout a handful of major Team Fortress 2 comics.

** In addition, there is no window behind the Heavy in the first Photo, nor is there any trace of Sasha's Bed, despite it being so close to the Heavy's Bed.

* The head in the box's hair is too long to be that of a Scout and too light to be that of a Medic. It is possible that this head might have belonged to a Spy or Pyro, or even a Sniper, but could have alternatively belonged to someone who isn't a Mercenary, as it is revealed that many of the Administrator's messengers were killed.

The Administrator

Meet the Director is a comic, released on May 5, 2011 Patch to accompany the Replay Update. Meet the Director follows Miss Pauling and the eponymous unnamed "Director", as they interview several of the RED mercenaries under the guise of a public relations stunt. A version of the comic, without word bubbles, was posted on the TF2 Official Website on May 10, 2011. This version can be found in this article as well.

Synopsis

The story begins with Miss Pauling and the Director riding along with the RED Sniper in his camper van as he drives to a battle at 2Fort. The Director constantly asks the Sniper insulting questions about his work and home life and makes remarks about his sanity. The Sniper is obviously aggravated, even threatening the Director with physical violence. Upon arrival, Miss Pauling reminds Sniper that the interviews are an attempt at positive PR, intended to save face with the locals of Badlands, New Mexico.

Back in the present, several RED mercenaries capture and shoot a messenger sent by the Administrator and interrogate him. It is implied that each person interviewed had been mailed potentially compromising photographs of their family or home. The Administrator reveals that the photographs were her demonstration of her new-found leverage and potential modes of retaliation should the mercenaries ever discuss the terms of their contract.

Elsewhere, Miss Pauling leads the Director into a mineshaft under the guise of an interview with the Administrator. As the Director makes his way inside, Pauling asks the Administrator over a phone if she should hold off on killing the Director, noting he never got a chance to interview BLU. The Administrator says to dispose of him anyway, remarking that she will simply have to find some new directors.
