I have a video of me (pyro) attacking a spy with the dead ringer. It shows the feign death and him running of invisible on fire. :It is very obvious that this would not be a one-hit kill, and thus, a proven spy-checking tactic. Of course, the chances of a spy being disguised with the Zatoichi on his team are very slim.

I know that the DR uncloak sound is louder than the others, but I'd like to know by how much, and how much the Saharan Spy set mutes it. The file scripts/game_sounds_player.txt says that a normal uncloak is 100% volume with 85dB falloff (attenuation; how much quieter the sound gets with distance), and the feign death uncloak is 70% volume with a 75dB falloff. It also says that a "reduced" uncloak is 50% volume with a 40dB falloff, but that may not be for the DR.

It seems that the position of the Ringer's fake death scream follows the Spy as they move around cloaked, rather than originating from where the Spy died / their corpse - allowing them to be somewhat tracked if a long death scream was used (verified with confidence).

Where should this info go on the page, if at all? Should it be added to the other "watch" pages too?

Where should the mention be placed, and how should it be phrased? Perhaps in Faked mechanics as:

* Death scream (scream originates from the Spy's actual location as they move, rather than from [the fake corpse / where the Spy feigned death])

or perhaps a different way/place?

Dead Ringer Issue

So, there is a major issue I found when testing out my dead ringer. when I had it out and a spy would backstab me, I would die this might just be that it is an instant kill but I have not tested it out on a sniper headshot. if someone reads this, test it with the sniper headshot and tell me what happens Thevillager681 (talk) 20:15, 14 October 2023 (UTC)

Spy's knife does 600% of the target's current health and its meant to instakill anyone not under the effect of an Uber. This is not an issue with the Dead Ringer, simply the way backstabs work. Sniper's headshot does normal critical damage (triple the amount of an ordinary shot) and can be survived. Lord of Dominating (talk) 20:22, 14 October 2023 (UTC)
The Dead Ringer doesn't guarantee to survive something that should have killed you, it simply reduces the damage taken.

Death scream follows Spy

It seems that the position of the Ringer's fake death scream follows the Spy as they move around cloaked, rather than originating from where the Spy died / their corpse - allowing them to be somewhat tracked if a long death scream was used (verified with confidence).

Where should the mention be placed, and how should it be phrased? Perhaps in Faked mechanics as:

  • Death scream (scream originates from the Spy's actual location as they move, rather than from [the fake corpse / where the Spy feigned death])

or perhaps a different way/place? {{Lemondoge|Talk|Contributions}} 19:23, 17 November 2024 (UTC)
