::: That seems good to me.  I understand the reference to Phantom of the Opera, but it just seems ignorant to delete the other trivia when this item is clearly styled more like the carnival/masquerade masks instead of the white half-mask so commonly recognized in Phantom of the Opera.  I think having both gives the best trivia fact. Thanks for the input.  If I don't see an edit sometime soon, I'll go ahead and do it myself. -- CptObvious 07:27, 22 December 2010 (UTC)

The Phantom of the Opera Reference?
 +
Hello! Guys, you don't have to add this but... I think this hat may (?) be based off of The Phantom of the Opera. This is not some random thing, it is a very famous western musical theater that has been running into recent times since 1986 and was created by Andrew Lloyd Webber. It tells the story of a Phantom living under the French Opera House. Its symbol is a mask, depicted in many different ways, but the one that the musical uses seems to be a mask shaped around most of the face, excluding the eyes and mouth. If you want, add it. This item just seems to make too many references to not be at least partially based on The Phantom of the Opera (Mask is the same except with color, it is called the Party Phantom, and it has is worn by a French Guy who can turn invisible. : I'm quite sure this was brought up and was removed as it was speculation. Unless one can confirm with the creator if its based off it or not, we're not really adding this. Ashes (talk) 06:25, 5 April 2016 (PDT)

Trivia

There's more than one reference here... we can't just include the Phantom of the opera because it's part of the name... the model is clearly styled after carnivals and masquerades (both of which are a form of PARTY). If we're going to include the Phantom reference, we also have to include the party reference too. Remove or modify to include? Suggested:

The Phantom of the Opera's main character's mask itself is a reference to masquerade masks, if I recall correctly. It would be redundant to mention both, however we could say something along the lines of:
Or something to that effect. --Piemanmoo 21:19, 21 December 2010 (UTC)
That seems good to me.

Phantom of the Opera Spy

Anybody have a picture of this and the mullet? Heard it looks fantastic :D --EvilDeadFan Pyro Blue Big.jpg 01:35, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

variant

Supposedly this is a Miscellaneous item, yet I'm sure I've seen an unusual variant of this... is this the only Misc. item to be available like this, or is it a hat and was mislabeled here on the wiki? Another option is I was seeing a server plugin that did this. --Zootch 23:47, 26 December 2010 (UTC)

It was originally a hat which could be found in unusual quality, before the December 21st patch changed it to a misc item. You can view a table of unusual quality hats here. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 23:50, 26 December 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I saw that, this is what triggered the question. If it's still available as an unusual, can the Spy have two particle effects coming from his head then? Also, is this the only Misc. item to HAVE an unusual variant?--Zootch 09:01, 27 December 2010 (UTC)
Its not the only misc to have an unusual variant, the Blighted Beak can also be this way. -= M-NINJA Burger Gib.png =- 21:55, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
And to answer your particle effect question, yes, it can have a separate particle effect, allowing you to have two particle effects simultaneously. The Blighted Beak is much the same. NihonTiger 21:58, 2 January 2011 (UTC)
Seems like you can stack two phantoms on top of eachother, which makes for a possible 3 effect combo, saw it today, here it is...http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/648751999051329060/6A0A297BB14E2BDD75513E76BF6C6E5ADA57B902/Slimecounty 14:06, 25 January 2012 (PST)
You have to exploit a glitch to wear two phantoms at the same time, so it shouldn't be mentioned (and neither should the Phantom being able to stack unusuals). Balladofwindfishes 14:20, 25 January 2012 (PST)

Unusuals?

Are we positive they could only be found from Festive Crates? I was under the impression that any hat is Unusualable from any crate series. Now the question is, are Miscs? Everyone buy many keys! :D – Smashman (talk) 21:41, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Image

Does the Red PP image under the Spy wearing it looks like Shugo's icons? I think it may be Chrome, just making sure. I cleared my caches too. OllyTheMann 18:57, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

It seems that it is the server's cache that is causing the problem. Thanks for pointing it out. We are helpless to fix it though, until it fixes itself! -- Pilk (talk) 19:00, 23 January 2011 (UTC)

Clipping Issues

I had both a Fez and a Party phantom for a while(I no longer have the fez) but I haven't had any clipping issues with it at all. --Dr Rocktipus 07:10, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

I have both and say there is a significant clipping issue between the eyes where the glasses are 'devoured' by the mask. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 07:20, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Do we know who made this?

It's not listed, yet the item is included in a few lists on the Wiki that list it as a community item. Balladofwindfishes 17:32, 8 February 2011 (UTC)
