Is the Heavy Duty Rag a reference to Team Fortress Classic?

I thought it was, considering the visual similarity. I haven't added it, though, considering that I don't have Word of Valve to back me up. Dotchan (talk) 12:22, 7 February 2014 (PST)

Is there a better way that this can be done? The videos stretch the page incredibly. -Firestorm 08:08, 1 July 2010 (UTC)

It's not A Clockwork Orange reference....

Actually, the Heavy doesn't say "Horrorshow" (in the supposed reference to A Clockwork Orange) - he says Horosho!. It's a Russian word ("Хорошо!"), meaning "good" or "excellent". Much more appropriate, considering it's one of his "Good Job" voice commands, don't you think? -Sentient6 19:14, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Yes, that seems to be the more obvious answer Balladofwindfishes 13:30, 17 November 2010 (UTC)

Proposed Re-formatting

I have already made the following proposal for the Demoman references page, but as all of these pages follow the same formatting I'm making the same points here. The reference pages are, to be honest, a bit of a mess. I think it would work alot better and be neater overall if the reference pages were all set out in a more standard format; using sections such as "Achievements", "Weapons", and "Taunts" instead of making random headings simply for one tiny piece of trivia. People looking for an explanation of an achievement or taunt (many of which are fairly obscure) won't want to trawl through a list of meaningless titles like "TV and Film" (which has only one topic), "Places" and "Organisations".

My proposed new format would be far mose user-friendly to people searching for the meaning behind a specific phrase or achievement. I'll go ahead and try it out on the Demoman page if no objections are made within the next few days, then if it works out we can format the rest of these pages.

I've finished re-formatting this page - the Demoman, Pyro, Scout and Soldier ones are done too. Still working on the rest of the hat references and some of the achievements. Please leave any feedback on the new layout on my Talk Page.

Fists Of Steel Reference

Am I the only one failing to see how the Fists Of Steel and the Duke Nukem quote are related? If I am correct can it please be removed? Thanks. Shauny7488 02:12, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

I'm not really familiar with Duke Nukem, but after a little searching it does appear to be a bit of a random reference. I've removed it for now, but if anyone has any valid evidence that it was a real reference then don't hesitate to put it back in. Cooper Kid (Blether)·(Contreebs) 15:27, 25 May 2011 (UTC)
It really isn't a reference. I'm the Duke Nukem expert on the wiki and duke says i got balls of steel not fists of steel. not really a reference. THE3STOOGES 22:08, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

achievements

some achievements don't really reference anything so can we get rid of them? THE3STOOGES 22:13, 25 May 2011 (UTC)

There are quite a few without references, but I'm going to go through them and add as many as I can as soon as I'm done re-formatting the rest of the reference pages. I'll remove any empty ones after that. Cooper Kid (Blether)·(Contreebs) 15:03, 26 May 2011 (UTC)

Cleanup

Couple of things need fixing:
1. GRU--How is this related to the weapon at all?
2. Holiday Punch--How is this related to the weapon at all?
3. Iron Curtain--Use         See: Iron Kurtain (above)
4. Purity Fist--Elaborate.
5. Party Loyalty--Elaborate to any extent please.

I've been unable to find any reference for the Party Loyalty achievement so far; I'll remove it now. Don't see what's wrong with the others ones though - the G.R.U. acronym is explained, as is the meaning of Holiday Punch and the reference to "Purity First". Reference pages don't follow the same guidelines as other pages on the Wiki; each individual entry is treated as a seperate entity, which is why some parts are repetitive and overlinking is abundant. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 21:06, 17 April 2012 (PDT)
Party loyalty likely refers to the communist party, albeit I can't think of a direct reference. The Gloves of Running Urgently have as much relevance to Former Russian Military Staff as they do to the Grue. I also doubt that the word "Punch" in Holiday Punch is being used as a drink rather than as a fist. You might as well say that it references Hanukah, a holiday. Standards of overlinking are maintained throught the wiki, the one exception being where multiple templates are stuck together, and the issue is irremovable. Not strictly true - the references pages are an exception to that rule, though as they are a rare case they're not mentioned in the Style guide. It's a similar case with the whole "confirmed trivia" business; it's just impractical to check every reference listed here with Valve, so we have to guess which ones are likely to be references and which ones aren't. The G.R.U. reference is fairly obvious as it's not a common acronym, neither is it a logical way to describe the weapon. The same is true of the Killing Gloves of Boxing. They don't really have anything to do with the G.R.U. or the K.G.B., but they don't need to; it's just a reference. And your Holiday Punch argument is a little nonsensical - we take the whole phrase "Holiday Punch" into account as a point of reference, not individual words in the name. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 05:35, 18 April 2012 (PDT)
