Starting spanish translations.
For the moment a one-man project, but i guess more people will join in if i start it. --Latin Geek 10:51, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
- Actually we have a few people already. Sr Domi is a prime example. Also, hey fellow Facepuncher. – Smashman (talk) 11:36, 26 September 2010 (UTC)
Proposing a new language to support
Pyro. The community want it, I think it's a brilliant idea. :D -RJ 15:46, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Support Absolutely. Let's get the ball rolling on this one! ~

(t ▪ c) 15:49, 13 October 2010 (UTC) - Support Mmmpphh mmph mmmph! --Picard lm(de) 15:50, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Neutral While the idea is awesome, it will cause a lot of edit spam (probably people wanting an easy edit for the Wiki Cap, thinking it'll give it to them), and once the hype dies down, it'll be a lot of unmaintained, unreadable pages. :( — Wind 15:53, 13 October 2010 (UTC)
- Support I support this, but only for the Pyro's class page and his weapons/hats. Timrod 18:26, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Support Why not? I've seen people try to translate the Charger from L4D2, why not the Pyro?--JokersFlame 19:31, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Support Brilliant Idea. Should be slightly lower priority with all the cleanup needed, though. A few questions, though... How will we spellcheck? Should we actually try to turn it into what s/he says in relation to it (Such as the voice command for spy) or go all out random? I think just be as ... canoically... accurate as possible.--Kurathedog 21:39, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Support As long as its only things that the pyro has or does. E.G Prophunt, Dodgeball and Zombie fortress include the Pyro and could be changed. By the way if this comes through i shotgun doing them Raptorbones 23:15, 6 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Sounds pretty dumb, just a page filled with "mmph". Latin Geek 01:13, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose As said above, it would be spammed (although this could be argued as a way to "absorb" the wiki cap spammers) and it would not be readable. But it would be funny for a minute Z Overlord 06:46, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Oppose Are you serious? This is the same as if I would want to translate the wiki to Vagineer. Ynnuf eb dluow taht yob! Gottam gottam wooooooooo! GameManXD 19:12, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

Translation this page
Hey all, need translation this page? Help:Language translation/ru — DaimoN (talk) s 21:44, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
Vietnamese as a supported language.
The Vietnamese playerbase of TF2 isn't alot, but they sure are not low on number either. I think I can translate this wiki into Vietnamese - helping players from my country to give a different view to this class-based multiplayer FPS, just like they used to play Counter-Strike. If given permission, I will proceed translating immediately. --- ShadowRolando. 11:46, 12 November 2010 (UTC)
Merging the two portuguese languages
I think that it's not necessary to have a whole lot of duplicate articles for both the Portuguese and the Brazilian Portuguese languages, I'm a brazilian and I can assure you the differences are really rare, it's like having articles for both the American English and the British one. A brazilian can perfectilly read a Portugal portuguese article and vice-versa. What do you think? Allukard 07:36, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
Thai Language?
Thai language is one of the supported language for Steam Translation Server.
I've notice that Thai language isn't one of the allowed list yet, would you kindly consider?
If you have seen statistic page about usage of languages in Steam version with Thai language being at the bottom. Here are some explanation :
1. Most of Thai people convert to use English version due to the problem of spray importing, which somehow doesn't compatible upon using Thai language 2.They accidentally skipped at the installing process and do not know that such function existed.
As one of Thai, I understand that Thai are weak at English due to the fact that the country have never been colonized by the western power. When using Steam, few words they can cope with by using Dictionary ,but to reading the whole articles here, I believe they could not.
Please consider Regards --Meenchawit 16:24, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- Support Progress on Thai translation for Steam is just little less than Czech or Romanian. I will see if I can help with anything there first. Punisouffle 22:39, 28 August 2011 (PDT)

List of articles
I almost finished a list with all the articles on the wiki. I think that it could be really useful for translations, so I want to put it on the wiki. It has more than 850 articles.
I think that it could be really good if there was a page with all the articles, and using marks to say which pages arent created, which arent finished and, when the english version are changed, it also say it, so everyone would notice which articles needs to be updated. I dont know how to make this, but well, better say it than not.
Obviously, I would make the list, on english and all the other languages. It will take a lot of time, but I dont care. Who is with me?Sr Domi 21:02, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
Request for a Lithuanian section.
Lithuania has a preety insane tf2 comunity if you count the fact that there are only about 3 million people living here. But that is not the point, I have heard plenty of complaints that lithuanians can't understand english or russian or any other supported languages. So I am requesting Lithuanian to become an official TF2 wiki language. Best regards, Elpacho 08:05, 12 January 2011 (UTC)
Mandarin translators?
I was wondering if anyone knows who the other mandarin translators are? I know there are discussion pages for the other languages (including the one for traditional Chinese), but does anyone know where I can find the simplified Chinese translators or editors? It'll be nice if we could discuss on the standardization of some of the terms. =/ Luvi 08:20, 1 March 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure of any active editors to simplified Chinese articles, but you can view the most recent edits to pages here; there seems to be a few other editors occasionally making pages. seb26 08:25, 1 March 2011
- I do know good Simplified Mandarin, and has a decent grasp on English to be able to translate articles, but I don't know how would one type Asian characters. I would like to help if I knew though. T.test 05:37, 16 September 2011 (PDT)
How to handle quotations in translations?
Hey, I been starting to translate articles into Swedish. But how am I supposed to handle quotes? The charcthers all speaks English in the Swedish version, so I have left the original English quote but translated everything around it. Like on the recently translated Name_Tag/sv article. Is that the right way to do it, seeing how a Swedish player would be hearing the English voices anyway? Ailure 11:38, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- That's the way I'll do it. There are two possibilities mainly : 1) You don't translate the responses but everything around it (Class name and explanation). 2) You translate the quote and everything else. I can tell you what we did for french, we used the french audio when there was one, and when we didn't have it, we translated the quote in our own words. But that's because there is a french localization (and voices), it may not be the same with swedish. Still, what you did is correct. Tturbo (T/C) 12:07, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, good to know what I did was right :). Unless Valve adds subtitles (unlikely), I will keep the quotes English in future articles. Ailure 17:52, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
URLs aren't matching up
Hi, noticed that a few urls aren't correct which causes ppl to think they aren't translated when they are. for example there is no wiki_cap/fr . its under wiki_hat/fr which causes confusion if a user just adds /fr to the end of the page. i just spent an hour translating when i found this out. I think that the urls should be normalized to avoid having this happen. Nibelhim 08:05, 27 September 2011 (PDT)
Translating non translated names?
If the name of an items hasn't been translated to my language in the game, should I come up with my own translation here on the wiki or keep it to the english name?LiquidFire 03:41, 15 April 2012 (PDT)
- Generally you can look in the localization files for the names Valve uses, which we use here on the Wiki. Otherwise, the English name is the default (Ex: Bonk Boy/fr) 03:44, 15 April 2012 (PDT)
- You must not make personal translations of item names. You generally wait to have the official translation come out of the STS (which updates the localization files). If you want to have it automatically translated on specific pages you can you the use the Dictionary via the {{Item name}} or {{Item link}} templates. You better have a word with the Localization Moderator for your language, so he can explain you that more precisely. Tturbo ( / ) 12:57, 15 April 2012 (PDT)
Serbian Language
I speak Serbian, and i know a bunch of Serbian gamers, so should we add it? (/sr). Me and my friends can help out... Here is a example of Serbian language (if anyone doesn't know it) from Minecraft wiki [1] Emperor Pear Head 03:12, 20 April 2012 (PDT)
