Speaking of which, did you notice there appears to be no difference in the controls for firing bullets and rockets? I mean for the joystick the engineer is holding. Both left-clicking and right-clinking will make the engineer move the stick forward. Just watch the demonstration. Is that something for trivia of bugs? Revision as of 11:07, 2 July 2012

I have left the link on the page, just to get things started. Currently lasooing an image in GIMP.Michael 23:43, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

I think that's an awesome pistol replacement,but we'll see when it's released. :) --Mitko1239 23:51, 6 July 2010 (UTC)
Lasooing done, I will upload a cleaner one with a clear background later.

And yes, it looks pretty neat, and might actually need some skill.Michael 23:52, 6 July 2010 (UTC)

Presumably the Engineer will be defenseless when he takes control of the Sentry's aim. -- SgtWoodsy 00:23, 7 July 2010 (UTC)
In addition to this, doesn't having the Wrangler equipped mean the Sentry can't aim automatically at all? -- SgtWoodsy 00:25, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Shield

Hmm, does anyone else think that 66% less damage is a lot if it's active ALL the time? I'm hoping it's a rechargeable shield, or something. --Firestorm 00:27, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

inb4 Pilk posts the "this is not a forum" notice at the top of the page. I dunno, but keep in mind that you can't repair your sentry while you're using it this way, and if you do decide to switch to the wrench to repair it, you've got three seconds with absolutely no fire, so you're dead. However, with two engineers, that's an entirely different story. I'm sure they have thought of something, but we'll see how it plays out. — WindPower 06:11, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Design

is it worth noting that the wrangler has a quite similar design to another "controller" out there. being that for the old atari systems, coupled with the fact it's pretty much "bolted" on here

or is this a bit of a stretch? Hyenadip

I don't think it's a stretch, that's what I thought too when I saw it, although I'm not sure what it's for since you never actually use it (if not one-handed like the picture shows). You may add it to the trivia section if you want to. — WindPower 06:11, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

I think this was probably the most suggested unlockable idea for the Engineer. Even I came up with a design not unlike Valve's. -- MistahFixIt 08:12, 7 July 2010 (UTC)

Aim assist

According to Firestorm, "When using the Wrangler, the Sentry Gun's laser will auto-lock on (aim assist) to targets when you move your crosshairs near them.". From my experience, the Sentry's laser is aimed at your target's "center" (middle of the model), no matter which body part you are aiming at, but you still need to aim at them, not just near them. — Wind 00:18, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

I haven't actually USED the Wrangler (heh), I'm merely transferring the info from the Sentry Gun page --Firestorm  User Firestorm Nuke Sig.jpg 00:23, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
So what's the problem? The quotation is correct. It aim assists. Maybe you want to make it clearer by saying it aim-assists the sentry, not the user. -- Nineaxis Duck Gib.png 00:26, 14 July 2010 (UTC)
It does aim at the middle, making it a bit hard to hit sometimes. Since the Sentry AI aims for the visible part, it's bound to score more hits. Or at least that's what happens with the Mini-Sentry. Bugger's too small to hit anything on 2fort's bridge with the Wrangler, yet it tears down people with the AI. -- Vi3trice (talk) 00:29, 14 July 2010 (UTC)

Crafting ?

Can Wrangler be crafted with 1 secondary token, 1 engy token and 1 scrap, because it's the only craftable secondary weapon ? Your Enemy 20:32, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

I'd say so, yes. maggosh 20:33, 2 March 2011 (UTC)

Weapons Demonstration

I have to request this be moved to "Needs to be redone" on the weapon demonstration page. The current video does not compare the fire rate with that of an unwrangled sentry gun. The current video also does not show the ability for the engineer to use the rockets to rocket jump. Finally, the current video does not demonstrate whether or not the wrangled gun has knockback (or, if it does, i missed it).

Shaking Hand?

I don't know how to activate it, but sometimes after firing, the engineer will shake his hand like it's sore. Can anybody that knows about it add it? Eat my soup 22:34, 30 September 2011 (PDT)

It happens when you've been using the Wrangler to fire the sentry gun for a certain amount of time (I'm afraid I've never tried testing how long). Its fairly easy to figure out why : if you hold your hands in the same position the Engineer might be holding the wrangler, your arm starts to get sore, especially the elbow or the wrist. Said Engineer would of course have to put a certain amount of pressure on the joystick, as it seems like that is what activates the firing of the sentry. Traveller 11:33, 21 April 2012 (PDT)
