Old Premium Upgrade System
Did this item remove the old Premium Upgrade System? Old system: "Buy anything from store, get premium".
Huwarf 03:31, 22 November 2012 (PST)
- No, but this is an option for it. You either receive this from someone, or you buy something from store in order to get premium account. -Asplode 04:38, 22 November 2012 (PST)

Useless?
This is kind of useless, because you can get premium for under $1 and this costs way more than that. For Valve, this doesn't matter because they get the exact same amount of money (For Gaben's cheezburgers, obviously) no matter if the player buys this or a Bonk. This is obviously because the minimum amount of money you can add to your Steam wallet is $5 so they get it anyway. Gongratulations, Valve, for making another great way to get money. (Use it on Ep3 or it's not worth it. I love Valve's games but still this is no good.)
tl; dr: Too expensive when compared to the normal premium system.

- Please note that this item is giftable, which means that if you won't/can't upgrade your account by yourself, some of your friends can do it for you. With original system this was impossible. -Asplode 05:24, 22 November 2012 (PST)
- I totally understand that this might be a good thing for people that can't add Steam money for some reason. Also could be a nice gift for your friends, let's say TF2 + this for example. Still I think the price should be lowered at least a bit. Neg 05:28, 22 November 2012 (PST)
How do you give this to a F2P account if they can't trade?— The preceding unsigned comment was added by User:Gear (talk) • (contribs)
@NEG, The minimum amount is 49c, not $5. You can put a 49c weapon in your cart, then when you check out, you get the option to add ONLY the cost of your cart (I used this to clean out the last $20.29 out of my paypal. Took forever to get the cost exactly right, since I wanted to $20 bonus, but couldn't go over $20.29. I managed to get it exact)
@anon, F2P CAN trade -.- Kinne 21:13, 23 November 2012 (PST)
- Correction Kinne. F2P Can't trade. They can only trade items GIVEN to them. They cannot trade items they earned themselves. Which gives the question once again. How can a F2P buy this from a trader? They can't unless a friend gives them the items to even buy it. They can't idle, make metal and simply trade. Ashes 21:24, 23 November 2012 (PST)
- The point behind this item is that it is giftable, which has nothing to do with trading. Anyways, this isn't the place to discuss the price - take your chatter to the forums. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 04:25, 24 November 2012 (PST)
Excuse me but as far as I'm concerned the minimum to spend is $5 because you have to buy it anyways to use this money in the tf2 shop. By the way is this a possible way to activate 2 alts at the same time just by spending $5 instead of $10? I mean if I buy $5 on steam for my 1st alt acc and buy the "upgrade to premium gift" so it becomes premium because of the purchase and then I gift it to the 2nd alt will it work?

Gift Badge?
Does giving a UtPG upgrade your gift-giving badge? — The preceding unsigned comment was added by Zobel (talk) • (contribs) 18:35, 22 November 2012
- No, that would be notified in the patch whenever it's not or have been documented. TNS 10:18, 22 November 2012 (PST)
