Changes
Class
- The Scout is wielding the Nailgun, from Team Fortress Classic, which was replaced by the Scattergun in the finished game.
- The Scout's bat swinging speed is faster in the finished game.
- The Soldier's Rocket Launcher has a rocket sticking out of the end when loaded. The Soldier bots are also scripted, both to fire and to die on cue.
- The Pyro's compression backpack is entirely yellow, while in the actual game it's grey with a yellow top.
- The Demoman is shown throwing a MIRV instead of a package of dynamite. This would be a stay-over from Team Fortress Classic. This was removed from the game following the beta and replaced with stickybombs.
- The Demoman's ability to remotely detonate his grenades hadn't yet been moved to his stickybombs.
- The Demoman's grenades from the Grenade Launcher didn't flash and were darker than the final version. The Grenade Launcher was also almost entirely grey, and the grenades in the viewmodel appear below the barrel.
- The Heavy's Minigun firing animation includes an even more cartoonish muzzle flash coming out of the barrel, while the bullet animation is thinner with less of a spread effect. He doesn't actually hit the Soldier on the far left.
- The Heavy's movement speed is much slower in the finished game.
- The Engineer's Shotgun has a slower, more "choppy" firing animation, and shells can be seen ejecting from the left side of the gun instead of the right. The Shotgun also fires more than six shells without reloading.
- The Engineer's viewmodel Wrench animation is different.
- The Level 1 Sentry Gun has slightly different textures, different firing and building sounds, builds at a slower speed, and has a higher rate of fire. It also has a muzzle flash, unlike the simple recoil the gun has now.
- The charge symbol seen when the Sniper Rifle is scoped has a different design.
- The Spy's Knife has a much longer and more intricate switching animation.
- The Spy has a pocket on the left side of his suit which is not present now.
- When the Spy cloaks, he doesn't have his team color transition.
- The Sniper Rifle uses the Schmidt Scout hit sound from Counter-Strike Source.
- The Heavy's Minigun barrel appears to be shorter than the finished product one.
2Fort
- The bridge in the center of the map is uncovered, which is now covered.
- The spawns have separate exits and entrances, similar to Team Fortress Classic.
- The entrances to the BLU and RED base have stairs; these were later replaced by ramps.
- The entrances from the sewers have the same staircases as the ones in Team Fortress Classic
General changes
- The explosion graphics are different in the finished game.
- Source 2006-styled blood is used when players are gibbed.
- The bone-cracking sounds for falling uses sounds from Counter-Strike and Half-Life 2 (when shot).
- The footstep sounds were recycled from Half-Life 2.
- All characters have the same voice and stock dying noises including the infamous Wilhelm scream. The generic voice was going to be used for the Civilian.
- The Intelligence isn't spinning around as it does in the final game.
- The emblems on the classes' arms are solid circles instead of class emblems.
