Oi, YOU!
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED Problem 16:37, 24 August 2011 (PDT)
Lumbricus Lid Taunt Demonstration Video
Hey Windpower,
hope you remember our talk few hours ago. I wanted to add a Taunt demonstration for the Lumbricus Lid, and other moderators told me it is your area to make decisions of which video to put up, so I show you my 2nd attempt of a recording. This time on the right map!! However!!: I noticed afterwards, that I accidently recorded my ping and stuff in it, so this will re-recorded. I rather would love to know if you are happy with the general recording of the video, since you said 'stand in the middle of the map and do the taunt' xD.
Thanks in advance for a reply!! T-Wayne 09:09, 12 August 2011 (PDT)
- Now, as you know, this can't be part of the weapon demonstration project because it is not a weapon. However, the video should still comply with its technical requirements (which is just a fancy way to say that it has to be good quality). In the case of this video, this means:
- Video must be 720p (current video only goes up to 480p)
- Must not have black bars (current video has black bars on all sides)
- Don't record your ping and stuff, indeed
- In the backpack view, the soldier should be holding the Equalizer, not the rocket launcher
- Also in the backpack view, the mouse should be on the Lumbricus Lid right at the start of the video
- When closing the backpack, you should already have the Equalizer out
That should be all~ Thanks :3 — Wind 17:34, 12 August 2011 (PDT)
Allright, I'll re-record the video, keeping in mind all your points mentioned above, shouldn't be too hard to be honest. Black parts appeared, 'cause I've set Fraps recording to 'Half-Size'. That also explains the low quality of my recording. I'll change that, since my usual display of the game is 1650x1080, and should be a great quality for the reference video. However I don't understand your Point 4: "* In the backpack view, the soldier should be holding the Equalizer, not the rocket launcher". The rocketlauncher is primary weapon, and the default one. I can'T de-select it. And the equalizer is a melee weapon. Since those are weapons of different slots, I have to hold both weapons (except I'm wrong again). Oh I thought I was holding the equalizer allready >.<, much to learn I have say Master Yoda ^^ Pinging view will be removed of course, I sometimes don'T notice it appears there x.x
Thank you for your tips, hopefully I can record a satisfying new video for you today :D ^^.
Sincerly, T-Wayne 01:44, 13 August 2011 (PDT)

I've rewatched them, but I tend to miss incredibly obvious thing (ie, the sound track is muted), so I was hoping you could confirm that they're acceptable. Just leave a comment on either user page or my talk page. Thanks! — Armisael 06:06, 13 August 2011 (PDT)

Horseless Headless Horsemann Headtaker Demonstration Video - Taking Heads
Alright, I figured essentially how to get the three first parts done (basic demonstration, ranged use, and speed differences), but for the final part, in which you can steal the heads of another player's head-counting weapon, should I have them be a bot and wielding the Eyelander (essentially the same as the Headtaker), or have another human player with another Headtaker (for the bot that kills, I gathered that I'd have them face a certain direction depending on a key I'd bind a direction to via yaw_offset). -- SyKhotic 13:05, 17 August 2011 (PDT)
- You can't have bots wielding unlockable items, so it has to be a human. Wield the Eyelander preferably, so that it shows that it doesn't matter which skin of the Eyelander you're using, heads still transfer. Please post further questions on the project's talk page — Wind 13:44, 17 August 2011 (PDT)

Another problem about Template:Dictionary
Hi, Wind. I've got another problem, sorry~ : |
I noticed that the word Original
is shared by Soldier's Rocket launcher, and Pyromancer's Mask's style. Both of them are called "Original" in English. But, in Chinese, we gave them two different names: "原型雷神火炮" and "預設", why we did that was because "original" can be several different meanings in Chinese. And it's not appropriate to use "預設" to describe a weapon, not appropriate to use "原型雷神火炮" to describe a style. Therefore, now the situation is that the style's name was changed to "原型雷神火炮" ,that will be pretty weird if any Taiwanese see that...So I was thinking that could you gave the word "Original" two different positions in Dictionary to solve this?
~www~ 06:02, 25 August 2011 (PDT)
- The dictionary cannot have duplicate entries for different things. I don't think the style "original" is defined in the dictionary at all... Where is it? — Wind 11:35, 26 August 2011 (PDT)
- I guess that it was in Template:Dictionary/items/styles and has been deleted by WindBot. Now I see that this problem occur for polish translation too and probably not only for it. -- Szumin (talk • contrib) 12:17, 26 August 2011 (PDT)
- I see. As I said, however, the dictionary cannot contain duplicate entries, which is why the bot deleted one of the two. It either needs to be in another dictionary entirely, or renamed to something like "original-style" — Wind 12:27, 26 August 2011 (PDT)
- So...probably rename it to "original-style" or something is the only way to solve this...? Anyway, thanks for your help, Wind. ~www~ 18:45, 26 August 2011 (PDT)

Well I'll be stuffed!
Y U NO tell me of your Birthday!?! Now I'm late! Still, fine belated B-Day wishes. Now onto the next reason I'm here: As you may know, I keep my good eye trained on WindBOT's Backpack Checklist, adding ID Badges, Dueling Badges, etc to people's checklists that they didn't add themselves. Thing is, I wanna give specific Levels to people's Dueling Badges (i.e. This guy's Badge is LV 56, while this guy's Badge is LV 27). It's a bit picky, but could you review the criteria for the Dueling Badge type? The Reason I ask is because if I want to show someone has a Gold Dueling Badge or something, I hafta put:
dueling badge = gold
...while I'd rather put:
dueling badge = 56
...to make things less vague. Again, I know it's picky, but could you see if you can make it recognize that values above 24 = Silver, above 49 = gold, and values above 74 = platinum? -- [UGS 2nd]Lancer @nti-tank Rocket 13:42, 27 August, 2011 (UTC)

API Read
Hey Wind,
I've tried contacting you at IRC but I've got no respounse. I'm intrested in doing TFWiki API Reads request for /ro pages.
More details: It's a medium term goal to provide our users with informations about the game, classes etc. We thought about mirroring the wiki directly but that won't work very well. Then I had the idea of getting the page content from the wiki then embedding it in our website and then providing a link.
Similar how Facebook does with Wikipedia, like /wiki.php?page=Soldier will display our website, our template but the content will be from Soldier/ro.
I know that the pages can be accesed by API without anymore permissions, however we need to talk because as I know there is some API Read limit, the best idea i could imagine is a cronjob every 24h to get the latest version of a page.
What do you say ?
In my opinion will increase the vizibility of Romanian translated articles thus making them worthy.
-- Nightbox (t s) 11:42, 9 September 2011 (PDT)
- Sure, there's no way we could stop this from happening anyway if it was a bad thing. But it's not a bad thing, it's more exposure for the Wiki, so go ahead~ Just a mention as a link to the article on wiki.teamfortress.com would be nice — Wind 12:17, 9 September 2011 (PDT)
Cannot be bothered anymore
I'll be honest now. I've grown tired of the wiki. When I started to edit back in TF2Wiki.net, I did it because I liked and wanted to do it. But now I see the wiki as some kind of forced work I have to do because others want me to. My work on the wiki has become tiresome and repetitive. I cannot be bothered to give opinions to anything anymore, expecially Wiki Caps. So remove my mod powers, because I don't want them anymore. Do not count on me for Wiki Cap voting because I will not vote anymore. But note that, personally, I have nothing against anyone. I love the people in here. But the wiki has become a trivial responsibility which I just don't care about now. -- OluapPlayer (t) 16:54, 11 September 2011 (PDT)

- Don't worry your powerful wind head, I'm not leaving the wiki forever. I'll still be around on IRC to annoy you and tease you about the wiki video which will still happen. I'm not there right now because I feel that I insulted the voting with my lack of interest. -- OluapPlayer (t) 17:33, 11 September 2011 (PDT)

Er
I just wanted to apologize, about the lack of work I've been putting out as of late. It's been pretty hard recently, as I have no stable living space or computer. If you feel it necessary to redact my Wiki Cap until such time as I can put out edits with some stability, I'll completely understand.
I hope everything's going well with you, as well as the wiki and IRC. I miss the hell out of all of it.
Also, happy belated birthday. :3
--SilverHammer 16:03, 14 September 2011 (PDT)
- While I certainly appreciate the thought, Wiki cakes are not related to current activity. They're a mark that you've done the work you needed to do to be a valuable contributor, and unless the wiki goes down or something, those contributions are there already. Whether you want to improve the Wiki further is up to you and a very noble thing to do, but this has no relationship to your Wiki cap, it's just a token of selflessness. You should not feel that you "owe" something.
Also thanks~ :3 — Wind 16:20, 14 September 2011 (PDT)

Reminder aboot 3D models

- As a Canadian, I am offended by your use of the word "Aboot", Firestorm. 404: User Not Found (talk) 03:39, 16 October 2011 (PDT)
- As a Canadian, I don't care about one's use of the word "Aboot" or not~
- Anyway, the following points need to be clear:
- Where exactly do the buttons show up?
- In a corner of the model viewer? Which corner?
- Outside of the model viewing area?
- Outside of the model selector area?
- Which buttons show up?
- (2D button on 3D image / 3D button on 2D image) OR (3D button on 3D image / 2D button on 2D image) OR (both buttons present all the time)
- What exactly happens when the users clicks on them?
- Does it swap out the model viewer by a 2D image?
- How does it know which 2D image to display?
- Where does it link? How does it know where to link?
- Does it simply the fallback (which can contain any wikicode)?
- Does it swap out the model selector with a 2D version with possibly different variants?
- How does it know which variants there are?
- How does it know which 2D variant corresponds to the previously-selected 3D variant?
- Same question but in the other direction
- Does it swap out the model viewer by a 2D image?
- Is the 2D/3D choice persistent across page loads?
- Is there a different preference setting for weapons and non-weapons?
- What are the defaults?
- Where are the defaults if the user doesn't have JavaScript enabled?
- Does it preload the other version?
— Wind 21:44, 16 October 2011 (PDT)
- My original suggestion was simply to have a button that would link to the high res image. So on the Sandvich infobox, pressing the button would link you to Media:Sandvich.png. I think it would be located in the corner of the infobox like the current rotation indicator. It would display the current type image (3D on a 3D image) but the button would change when you hover over it to the other one. (3D to 2D).
- I think that 2D should be on by default, as this reduces page load times and strain on the Wiki. The 3D is nice, but I don't see it being used more than once or twice per image. Plus, it just looks nicer in my opinion.
- As for variants, I'm not really sure how that would work. Either we remove the variants buttons on 2D, or take more images -- Firestorm 17:41, 17 October 2011 (PDT)
- Yes, your suggestion was clear and well-defined enough, but since there will have to be a toggle option for hats, this would supersede having a simple link to the high-res 2D image, so I feel it is unnecessary to implement that and go straight for the toggle option. That's why I'm asking details about the toggle instead of the original suggestion~ — Wind 17:46, 17 October 2011 (PDT)
