The Pyro on grease removal

The Degreaser is a primary weapon for the Pyro. It appears to be comprised of a gas pump, car muffler, fire extinguisher, and stove top burner all attached to function as a Flamethrower.

This weapon reduces the delay caused by weapon switching by 65% for all weapons, allowing easier strategic use of weapon combos such as with the Axtinguisher. In return, the Degreaser deals 25% less afterburn damage against enemies.

Unlike the Backburner, the Degreaser retains the compression blast.

Trivia

  • The draw animation will differ slightly depending on which weapon the player is switching from.
  • It has been reported that the Degreaser is also considerably quieter than either of the other flamethrowers.
  • The kill icon for the Degreaser will only show if you destroy a building using the weapon but never if you use it to kill an enemy.
  • When a reflected rocket of the Black Box hits an opponent the Pyro is awarded 15 health.
  • Because of the faster draw time, it is possible to glitch out the item you are using for an action, à la the taunt glitch.
