Assorted Questions

  • Is it useful or appropriate to list Sentry Buster-based achievements here? Wayn3w 14:39, 19 August 2012 (PDT)
This is already listed, but yes. Achievements can be listed on any relevant page, under the header == Related Achievements == Darkid (talk|contribs) 18:35, 21 August 2012 (PDT)
  • I've noticed as an Engineer that sentry busters spawn if a sentry accumulates 20 kills. This includes assist kills. Spy is not our Spy! 18:26, 25 August 2012 (PDT)
Can you show video proof (i.e. 19 kills and no spawn, wait a while, make 20th kill, instant/fast spawn)? Or, try to find that key number, or span of time, or whatever actually causes it. Darkid (talk|contribs) 18:35, 21 August 2012 (PDT)
  • Sorry, my computer is shit for recording. But I have noticed that when my Sentry accumulates 20 total kills (kills + assists) a Sentry Buster spawns. Spy is not our Spy! 18:26, 25 August 2012 (PDT)

"Three-Teleporter Radius"

What the hell is a three-teleporter radius? Can't we get a hammer unit scale or something more useful as a unit of measurement? ==Fax Celestis talkcontribhome 20:03, 23 August 2012 (PDT)

  • Take a Teleporter's radius and multiply it by three. Spy is not our Spy! 18:27, 25 August 2012 (PDT)
Made sense to me. I know what hammer units are but I don't have an idea of their actual scale.Uneffect 10:09, 28 August 2012 (PDT)

Good point. Quickly, someone find how many hammer units a Teleporter's teleporting range is and multiply it by three. {{subst:void|This template should always be substituted. The Sentry Buster Fluster

So if you haul your sentry and run to meet the Sentry Buster a few seconds before it gets close, then lead it away from any team buildings/players, then stand still for a moment, it will begin its arming sequence and you can run back to your dispenser still hauling your gun. The Sentry Buster is a silly duffer and can't abort the self destruct and blows up and nothing of value is lost.

Is this a feature or a bug?

I think it is a great feature/bug and use it every time, it is very effective.Uneffect 17:31, 27 August 2012 (PDT)

I think that's one of the main ways that you're supposed to escape the sentry buster. Doesn't seem like a bug, or else this would be ridiculously hard to time moving your sentry every time before detonation. {{subst:void|This template should always be substituted. I don't think you've understood what I'm saying, also for the case you described, the correct timing is to haul once it stops walking, there are also reliable sound cues. Pretty easy, that's what makes me think valve will have to nerf the buster registering a hauled sentry as a valid target.Uneffect 09:56, 28 August 2012 (PDT)
This is not a bug, it is an expected property of the Sentry Buster. It was most likely created to recognize hauled Sentries as a way to stop it running forever if an Engineer picked up his Sentry too early. It is just exploiting, if you will, the system. removed Instant Teleport tactic

Took this out because it is a waste of everything involved. Just move out of the blast radius, don't tele to spawn and waste your canteen slots with that power up. "Another idea is to use an Instant Teleport buff to allow it to start detonating, then teleport to your base hurriedly. If you have a teleporter a small distance away from where your sentry was, you may even be able to get back to the front lines almost seconds after detonation."
