Basic Strategy

The tips noted under "Basic Strategy" do not comply with the TF2 Wiki style guide—they refer to commands that are specific to PC gamers, and therefore are of no help to console gamers. These commands also only work on qwerty keyboards which, despite their popularity, are not the only style in existence. GenericCola 07:40, 5 February 2011 (UTC)

Picture?

I noticed the displayed pictures for all classes are for the RED version of each class, except the Spy. Is there any particular reason? Betenoire 14:16, 9 December 2010 (UTC) Probably no particular reason though i think we should try to be consistent with the pictures. I might try to find a red one and put it in. Pierow 05:26, 8 March 2011 (UTC)

I always thought it was just a little joke. Like, the BLU spy had infiltrated the wiki or something >_< Idk it make me giggle a bit. -- Babygirl User Babygirl avatar.png 17:57, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Spelling/Grammar note

When editing Spy pages, keep in mind that the weapon name is "L'Etranger", not "the L'Etranger". The L and apostrophe are a French equivalent of "the". So, writing "the L'Etranger" is the same as writing "the the Etranger". Sorry for the nitpick, but being fluent in French, this is an error that often frustrates me. --Szthesquid 19:10, 4 November 2010 (UTC)

Can you explain more clearly, I can't really see the difference; is the apostrophe in a different place? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mattkim824 (talk) • (contribs) 03:41, 13 October 2011
I think Szthesquid is referring to the "the" prefix. Please remember to sign your name after possts by typing ~~~~ thanks. » Cooper Kid (blether) • (contreebs) 03:25, 23 October 2011 (PDT)

Achievements

i have been noticing alot about the spy pistols they all have the achievement 'A Cut Above' but it's not specific to any pistol the achievement works with any pistol at all and is not specific to a certain pistol

i have been getting messages from people saying "as long it has to do with the weapon its ok" and other people saying "it must be specific to that weapon to be counted" so what is the correct statement can someone clear that up for me? Lexicon249 05:16, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Knife

(Backstab: 450) The Knife deals more than 450 Dmg, it deals 6x of the enemys maximum healthpoints. This could be important, because Deadringer Spys sometimes can take more than 450 damage points. --Picard 08:18, 8 August 2010 (UTC)

You are correct, editted --Firestorm 01:21, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Another thing I noticed :D
"Ironically, the Spy is voiced by Dennis Bateman, the same VA as the Pyro, his second worst enemy."
Who is the Spys worst enemy? Because the Sniper isnt the worst Enemy of the Spy, but the Spy is the worst enemy of the Sniper. --Picard 21:32, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
I guess "Enemy" is referring to the one he hates the most. I don't like the line at all though. --Firestorm 21:33, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
"The Spy appears to have separate voices for BLU and RED as the RED Spy has a lower, raspier voice." Does he? Is this referring only to voices of the spies in Valve machinima? I had never noticed. --A Sassy Dog 15:01, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
Removed until proof is provided -Firestorm 16:06, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
I did notice that the spy has two distinct intonations, but I don't think they're specific to team color. — Wind 16:26, 17 August 2010 (UTC)
The red spy does speak in a lower voice. In Meet the Spy you can tell the difference. Kevschow 01:38, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Only in his 'Meet The...' video. In gameplay, there is no difference between the two teams. This tidbit is listed on the 'Meet The Spy' page, which I reckon is more appropriate than having it here. Alphard 15:12, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Name?

Is there any source of his name?--DCybertron 01:34, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Nope --Firestorm 01:34, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
His name is Philippe Lefebvre! Just watch OSS 117: Le Caire nid d'espions DWM91 18:11, 17 October 2010 (UTC)
I keep stumbeling accross people calling him Émile, no idea where this comes from. Anyone any insight? Trent Easton 17:16, 29 November 2011 (PST)

Meme

Should we mention the Gentlemen meme in trivia? Kevschow 01:41, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

Memes --Firestorm 01:43, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

But of course. ~weirdduder10 13:58:17, 14 October 2012 (US)

Revolvers

At point blank Revolver deals 60 damage, Ambassador 51 and L'Etranger 48. Checked 10/15/2010. --Onotole 00:54, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

I'm not sure what information you're trying to correct as those values are already listed (albeit as ranges) in the articles for each of those weapons. -RJ 01:32, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

I was wondering, why were the revolvers listed as secondary weapons? cause in the loadouts, i see them as 1st: Revolver 2nd: Sapper 3rd: Knife PDA: spy watch. I get kind of confused like that. -Weirdduder10 13:52:32, 14 October 2012

Trivia

Regarding the current second to last trivia ("Before the Spy update..."): it ends with the statement '"As his voice lines are said in a calm collected manner, this gives him a split personality."' This seems rather like a stretch, but I'm new here and don't want to edit something out of existence based solely on my judgement (yet). Can someone else sound off on this or just jump in and delete it? Thanks. Scurve 07:05, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

View Model Beta Color Scheme

The Spy's view model sleeves still have beta color schemes. In addition, the number of stripes on his sleeve do not match the world model.

Is the essentially saying the same thing? Could it be rewritten as "The spy's view model sleeves are from the beta texture and do not match the color and stripe count of the world model" or something? CptObvious 08:10, 10 December 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget that the ingame hud still displays the original beta Spy's design Baron Royale

New Spy Picture

I noticed that the original picture of the Spy standing with the knife and smoking has been replaced with a Spy "taunting" and pulling up a sigarrette from his Spy-Kit. Well, i dont mind a picture change but i expected a RED Spy and not a BLU again (:3). The Noble Scout 12:28, 8 February 2011 (UTC)

Health glitch

I think the health from Kunai glitch should be noted in the description box. The glitch speed from GRU and Steak was in Heavy article too before patch. --SandeProElite 15:29, 17 April 2011 (UTC)

Kill Icons

It may be repetitive, but each of the Spy melee weapons does have the backstab kill icon associated with it. Shouldn't that icon be represented in each of the boxes as opposed to just that of the Knife? Babygirl 22:51, 13 May 2011 (UTC)

Ermmmm in my opinion they all looks same.Rins :O (talk | contribs) 12:49, 14 May 2011 (UTC)
They do. I'm just worried that the Spy page might give the impression that only the vanilla knife has a unique backstab icon. -- Babygirl User Babygirl avatar.png 15:20, 14 May 2011 (UTC)

Motto

Isn't it technically "..."? Tendog 02:11, 19 June 2011 (UTC)

I'm sure it would be more "Gentlemen" (mentlegen?) Weirdduder10 14:04:53, 14 October 2012 (US)

Beta Suit

Should I include the beta suit as a bug or as "Unused Content"? The preceding unsigned comment was added by Doktorpsyko (talk) • (contribs)

Do you mean just to mention it on the wiki? If so, neither. The Fire proof suit has a page, and if you mean the design change, it isn't notable as either. - 6vKcd.pngnixshadow (t|c) 23:25, 2 July 2011 (PDT)

Top of Page Portrait

Currently it depicts a Blue spy, while all the other class portraits depict the Red team. May want that corrected. Grug 05:14, 9 July 2011 (PDT)

Yes, I agree, but a lot of people seem passionate about this being a BLU Spy for some reason Balladofwindfishes 05:18, 9 July 2011 (PDT)

Relationship with other classes

Is that necessary ? - WatdaFok. 10:55, 17 July 2011 (PDT)

Relationship is mean Match-ups. So Relationship is useless Hinaomi 02:05, 18 July 2011 (PDT)

Knife (2)

Spycicle's 'frozen statue' effect is listed with a red 'negative' marker - should this be the case if the Saxxy effect is so similar and uses the blue 'info' marker? Dreamdayer 14:17, 26 June 2012 (PDT)

I think I agree with you, this is a cosmetic effect as well. Carez Killicon conscientious objector.png Speech voice.png 00:18, 26 June 2012 (PDT)

Spy's identity?

Is it possible that the Spy is actually Gray Mann? In Blood Brothers, he says "Gentlemen" (one of the Spy's phrases), wears a suit that resembles Spy's (albeit a different color), and kills Redmond and Blutarch by stabbing them in the back. Digifreek 09:54, 13 August 2012 (PDT)

Well, he actually stabs them in the chest going from his relative position at the end of the comic, but speculation and this kind of discussion belongs on the Steam Forums ^^ User Wingless Winged Signature.png 09:55, 13 August 2012 (PDT)
If i had to say who would most likely be Gray Mann would be engineer's grandfather, or engineer. Because Engineer's grandfather had a blueprint that had a scout robot, which is confusing because scout was probably not even born at the time, And spy's well known phrase "Gentlemen" doesn't mean who ever says it is the spy.
