Beat Me Up, Scotty Use a critical swing with the Eyelander to kill 5 enemy players. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: This achievement requires you to kill enemy players with Critical hits from The Eyelander. The Eyelander does not give random Critical strikes, so you will need either a Kritzkrieg charge, a Crit boost from securing the enemy intelligence, or a full charge with the Chargin' Targe to complete this achievement. You may also use the Scotsman's Skullcutter, which does more damage in addition to being able to randomly Crit targets. |
Blind Fire Destroy an Engineer building that you can't see with a direct hit from your Grenade Launcher. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This achievement requires some well-aimed grenades fired at the right angle. Remember that grenades will only detonate on contact if it has not collided with any other objects beforehand, so rebounding them off a wall will not meet the achievement criteria. On many maps (such as the final cap point of Dustbowl stage 2) you can hide behind an object and lob grenades over it at buildings, keeping you safe. You can also get this by firing a grenade at a building, and then moving out of the line of sight before it connects. |
Bloody Merry Provide an enemy player with a freeze cam of your smiling face. Difficulty: Very Easy How to obtain: Simply taunt while equipped with the Grenade Launcher upon killing an enemy. As with other freeze cam achievements, you do not need to make the kill with the weapon itself, you can quickly switch and taunt. This is even easier with the Demoman, as you can simply lay a sticky trap and detonate it while equipped with the Grenade Launcher. |
Brainspotting Decapitate 50 enemy players. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This achievement will require you to use the Eyelander or Scotsman's Skullcutter to kill enemies. This achievement isn't overly difficult, but can take a longer time than other achievements. With the Eyelander, it is easier to get additional heads if you've already collected a few beforehand, as the extra speed and health will help, so try to get heads in strings, rather than one or two per life. The Scotsman's Skullcutter can randomly crit and does not start with the 25 HP penalty, however you cannot gain additional health and speed from killing players with it. Carrying the Chargin' Targe is generally recommended, as it allows you to quickly close the gap against any enemies attacking from a distance. |
Bravehurt Kill 25 players defending a capture point or cart. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Since the Demoman shines in area denial to the enemy team, all this achievement will take is some time and skilled playing to speed up the process. Whenever your team is trying to capture a point, simply lay stickies around the point and detonate them when an enemy jumps onto the point to stop the capture. While you can get points for killing defenders on the Payload cart, this is somewhat harder because the cart moves while being captured. If you are using the Chargin' Targe, simply try to actively take the point with your team and use your melee weapon to kill anybody who tries to stop you. |
Caber Toss Bounce an enemy into the air and kill them before they land. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This achievement will require a bit of luck. After you've managed to blast an enemy into the air without dying with your Sticky Bomb Launcher, you may have the opportunity to finish him off in mid air with a well aimed grenade, or a sticky bomb detonated in mid air. Alternatively, you can try to lay a sticky trap beforehand, and bounce a target into them and detonating before he lands. You may also get this achievement incidentally simply by spamming grenades from your Grenade Launcher, as one of your grenades may launch the enemy into the air before your others kill him. You can also try to use the Scottish Resistance to lay two sticky traps, then bouncing an enemy from one into the other and detonating them separately. |
Cry Some Moor! Destroy 50 buildings. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: Demomen are excellent at destroying Engineer buildings. All this achievement will require is skilled offensive playing, and some time. When paired up with a Medic, try to have him ÜberCharge you as you run in to destroy the enemy team's buildings. Using the Sticky Bomb Launcher instead of the Scottish Resistance is recommended as the time delay can make it hard to destroy the buildings in time. |
Double Mauled Scotch Kill 2 people in a single sticky jump. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: This achievement will require some favorable circumstances. You will need to make a sticky jump and kill two enemy players before you land. This may happen incidentally if you encounter a group of enemies with low health; sticky jump above them and rain stickies or grenades on the ground, with a little luck or a well placed sticky you will kill at least two of them. Remember that any sticky bombs detonated in the same explosion as your jump also count towards this achievement, so you can try placing a sticky trap in a well-trafficked area and have one sticky under your feet; once you see at least two enemies appear near the sticky trap, crouch jump and detonate. |
Glasg0wned Kill 25 Scouts and Pyros with the Grenade Launcher. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Pyros will likely be an easier target for your Grenade Launcher if you backpedal and fire at them as they attempt to burn you to death, though beware that some will use their compression blast to blow your grenades right back in your face. Scouts will be harder as they are a faster moving target and can more easily dodge your grenades, but are quite possible to hit with some good prediction instinct and good aim. You can also get some kills by firing grenades into enemy crowds and hoping that an unaware Scout or Pyro is among them. |
He Who Celt It Use the Sticky Launcher to kill an enemy player via environmental damage. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Ideally, this achievement is more easily accomplished on a map with some dangerous environmental hazard such as instant death pits. Blast an enemy player high into the air with a sticky bomb, and if you're lucky he will die from the falling damage, or face his death down a large pit. Ideal maps for this achievement are Nucleus, the final point on Steel, and Double Cross. |
Highland Fling Sticky jump a really long way... Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Experienced sticky jumpers will really have no problem with this achievement. Note that the criteria is based on how much horizontal distance you cover with your sticky jump, not vertical elevation. Find a large, open area and use two stickies to jump. You will need to both crouch and jump to make the maximum distance, see the rocket jump page to find information on how to sticky jump. One way to get this achievement is to jump from the first BLU spawn on Badwater Basin to the first capture point. Another good spot is the final stage of Pipeline, get to the top of the ramps and sticky jump with two stickies. Interestingly enough, it is actually possible to do this achievement with the aid of a Scout equipped with a Force-A-Nature. With the Scout standing slightly lower than you(good example would be a staircase or while the Scout is crouched), if he shoots at your feet while you jump, you can potentially be launched farther than from battlement to battlement, in 2Fort. This proves that you don't actually need to sticky-jump to finish this achievement, but rather have your character knocked back a large distance. A good place to try this would be from one staircase near the Badland's control point to the other. |
Kilt in Action Kill 500 enemy Soldiers. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Always try to use your class advantages to kill Soldiers on your own terms; lay sticky traps and bounce grenades around corners, and always deny them a direct line of sight towards you. If you are using the Chargin' Targe, try to engage the Soldier in close-quarters combat where his Rocket Launcher will also damage him and make it easier for you to kill him. |
Laddy Macdeth Kill 50 enemies with direct hits from the Grenade Launcher. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: All this achievement will take is good aim, good leading prediction, skilled play and time. You may also get several kills through pure luck. Remember that airborne and rocket- or sticky-jumping enemies will have trouble altering their trajectory, so try to lead and kill them with mid-air pipe bombs. |
Left 4 Heads Decapitate 4 players with only 10 seconds between each kill. Difficulty: Hard How to obtain: This achievement will most definitely be easier with an assisting Medic with an ÜberCharge. Kritzkrieg is recommended as your enemies will likely disperse quickly after seeing you charged by it. Use The Eyelander and go on a berserk rage upon your foes. With some luck, you will complete this achievement. You may also get lucky by stickyjumping into the fray at the beginning of a round on 2Fort, wielding The Scotsman's Skullcutter. |
Loch Ness Bombster Kill an enemy player with stickybombs within 5 seconds of them teleporting. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This achievement will either require you to find and kill an enemy that fortunately has just used a Teleporter, or you camp a Teleporter Exit and wait for someone to use it. You can also get this achievement incidentally by attacking an enemy forward base with an ÜberCharge, and try to kill as many enemies as you can. |
Pipebagger Kill at least three players with a single detonation of stickybombs. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Focus your sticky bombs on places with high concentrations of enemies, such as an active control point or the Payload cart, or over-eager players waiting right at the gates when the round starts. A Kritzkrieg ÜberCharge can make this achievement easier, as you can potentially kill three people with just a single sticky. |
Robbed Royal Destroy 100 enemy stickybombs with the Scottish Resistance. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: Whenever you see some stickies, chances are they are all concentrated rather tightly, so you only need to use one or two bombs to destroy multiple stickies. Just be wary as the enemy Demoman is likely to be nearby. Always try to predict where an enemy Demoman would place sticky traps, and toss your own into those areas and destroy them. You can also get several points toward this achievement by shepherding friendly Sentry guns against enemy Demomen who try to attack with an ÜberCharge. |
Scotch Guard Kill 3 enemies capping or pushing a cart in a single stickybomb detonation 3 separate times. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: While defending capture points, try to place sticky traps in innocuous locations where they won't be immediately spotted, and detonating them when enough people are on the point. On Payload maps, however, players will often refuse to jump onto the cart if they see stickies around it, so your best bet is to throw stickies at the cart after the enemy starts trying to push it. |
Scotch Tap Glory in the slaughter of your enemies using the Eyelander. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: This achievement requires performing a taunt with the Eyelander equipped on an unsuspecting enemy to decapitate them. While this taunt takes a while to perform, it is also entirely noiseless so you can attempt it multiple times on the same target if you miss. Whenever possible, try to sticky-jump behind enemy lines and perform the taunt on a Sniper, or camp an enemy Teleporter Exit. |
Second Eye Provide an enemy player with a freeze cam of you shaking your rump. Difficulty: Very Easy How to obtain: Upon killing an enemy, simply taunt with the Scottish Resistance equipped. Ideally, just set up a sticky trap and wait for an enemy to cross it. |
Shorn Connery Decapitate a cloaked Spy. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This one mostly comes down to luck. If you know a Spy is around, swing a few times randomly and you may get him. You may also want to check around the last point on maps such as Dustbowl for sneaky Spies waiting with a Cloak and Dagger for a Spy cap. |
Slammy Slayvis Woundya Decapitate an enemy Soldier who is brandishing the Equalizer. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Since the Soldier is using the Equalizer, he will most likely be already hurt to get the most of his weapon. Just watch out if he is seriously injured as he will easily out-maneuver and out-damage you unless you already have made a few decapitations beforehand. Try to use your melee weapon's wider range to kill him before he gets too close. You can use either the Eyelander or Scotsman's Skullcutter. |
Something Stickied This Way Comes Kill 30 players with air burst stickybombs. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: This requires good reflexes to get. If you see an enemy who might be low on health for whatever reason, aim a little above them so the sticky doesn't touch the floor, and hopefully you'll blow them up with it. You can also try to "sticky-snipe" and shoot long-range sticky bombs by charging the launcher, this is easier in that your target will likely be less aware of your presence, but also harder in that you have to have better aim. Keep in mind that stickies cannot be detonated for roughly a second after being fired. While this achievement can be accomplished with the Scottish Resistance, you may have trouble detonating the sticky in time. |
Spynal Tap Kill 20 Spies within 5 seconds of them sapping a friendly building. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: An easy way to get this is to equip the Scottish Resistance and place a few sticky bombs around all friendly buildings. When you hear an Engineer's buildings being sapped, just aim and detonate. While not especially difficult, this achievement may require some time to get. |
Sticky Thump Using the Scottish Resistance, kill 3 players in separate explosions without placing new stickybombs. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: This requires up to two separate clusters to count, and the kills that the clusters obtain need to be three or more to unlock this achievement. Areas such as the tunnels on Dustbowl that are small, narrow and typically busy with player traffic will provide ample chances to blow one set of stickies up and kill someone, then detonate the next batch when more people come and so on. NOTE: You cannot replace a single sticky once you obtain a kill with a cluster, or the achievement will restart. |
Tam O'Shatter Destroy 5 enemy Engineer buildings during a single ÜberCharge from a Medic. Difficulty: Medium-Hard How to obtain: Engineer nests typically have 2 or 3 buildings in them (Sentry Gun, Dispenser and a possible teleporter entrance), so finding 5 in the space of 8 seconds is a difficult task. The final control point on Dustbowl is typically full of buildings ripe for stickies, so work in tandem with a Medic to ensure that you can reach the maximum number of buildings in the short space of time you have. Try to avoid approaching from areas where you have to drop down, as Sentry Guns can easily push you away while you are airborne. There is also a corresponding Medic achievement, "Medical Breakthrough", so if possible find a Medic that needs this achievement to aid you and use any Übers that they gain on you. |
Tartan Spartan Do 1 million points of total blast damage. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: Like Pyromancer and Chief of Staff, this is a long grind achievement. Just use your Grenade Launcher, Sticky Bomb Launcher, or Scottish Resistance until you get it. |
The Argyle Sap Blow up an Engineer, his sentry gun, and his dispenser with a single stickybomb detonation. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: As a Demoman, you should probably be doing this on a regular basis on maps with common Engineer nests such as 2Fort or Dustbowl. If they are really dug in, have a Medic ÜberCharge you and make sure you focus enough fire to destroy the whole setup (usually 3 or 4 well-placed Stickies will be enough). Try to avoid Engineers with the Wrangler, as a Sentry under its effects can take up to 6 stickies to destroy. |
The High Road Sticky jump onto a cap point and capture it. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: The easiest way to attempt this achievement is on lightly-guarded points or by back-capping. The easiest place is on the first or fifth point of a five point CP-Style map like Well, as they capture very quickly; simply sticky-jump, and be sure to land on the metal Control Point itself. Another place to try this is on the spires on Badlands, as they are easily accessible via sticky jumping. NOTE: You must successfully capture the point for this achievement to count, so having a teammate or two assist you after you begin the capture can help immensely. Carrying the Pain Train will make you capture twice as fast, so equipping one is recommended. |
There Can Be Only One Decapitate your nemesis. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: Your nemesis will be identified via a large Revenge icon above their heads, so once you have a nemesis, be sure to be on the lookout for the icon and charge them with the Eyelander once you get close enough. Using the Chargin' Targe's charge ability will aid in closing the gap between you and your nemesis faster and give you more of a chance to decapitate them. The Scotsman's Skullcutter may also be a wise choice due to its higher damage and ability to randomly Crit. |
The Scottish Play Get a melee kill while sticky jumping. Difficulty: Hard How to obtain: This can be tricky to pull off, as it requires a good sense of prediction to work out where your target will be before you hit the ground. This can be done as you land on an enemy's head if you react fast enough and melee them as you make contact. You can also do this by jumping into another rocket/sticky jumping player and colliding in mid-air; just be sure to hit them before they realize what happened. |
The Targe Charge Charge and kill someone with your shield bash. Difficulty: Medium How to obtain: The Targe does 50 damage on a direct hit with an enemy, and an additional 10 damage for each head you currently have with the Eyelander (up to 5). 100 total damage is often more than enough to kill weakened classes such as Medics and Spies. You can also try to get this by charging a retreating Scout or an Equalizer-wielding Soldier. |
The Stickening Kill 3 Heavies from full health with a single stickybomb detonation. Difficulty: Easy-Medium How to obtain: Heavies in a contested area will rarely be at full health unless accompanied by a Medic, and will most likely destroy your stickies or directly attack you once they realize that they are being shot at. Placing stickies on places like the roof of control point B or C on Gravel Pit, around corners on Dustbowl, or in unexpected places near the enemy spawn will help you find Heavies that are on full health as well as hide the stickies to ensure they are not destroyed prematurely. The Scottish Resistance can help by separating your clusters and giving you more chances and more places to place stickies. If you see an ÜberCharged Heavy, try to lay at least 5 stickies at his feet and detonating them when the charge wears off, if he is Übered then chances are that he is revved up, so he will be easy to lead. However, often the Heavy will try to kill you in order to destroy the stickies, so try to stay out of his direct line of sight. |
Three Times a Laddy Dominate three Engineers. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: A Demoman can often wipe out an Engineer and is buildings in one detonation of sticky bombs. Just watch out for any Level 3 Sentry Guns unless you have a good angle of attack or an ÜberCharge to deal with it. If the Engineer has the Wrangler, try to kill the Engineer himself first, then retreat from the Sentry while it's powered down. Be sure to watch out for Mini-Combat Sentries as well, as well as Engineers with the Frontier Justice. |
Well Plaid! Kill 10 enemies while assisting or being assisted by another Demoman. Difficulty: Easy How to obtain: When there are friendly Demomen nearby, try coordinating to focus on the same target, making sure both of you hit a given enemy at least once before killing them. |
