Template:Weapon infobox The Concussion Grenade is a grenade in the classic Team Fortress games. When the timer goes off, the grenade will explode, releasing a blast of energy that will push away anyone near the grenade when it exploded. In addition, it will cause the victim's view to spin around in different directions, making it difficult to hit a target for a short period of time. It is only used by the Scout and Medic.
While intended as a distraction weapon, it has evolved into a tool for faster movement that is almost vital for flag-runners. See Concussion Jumping for more information.

Strategy
- The Concussion Grenade has two purposes: it can be used to "conc jump", allowing the player to traverse great distances quickly, or (confusingly, more rarely) for its intended purpose of disorienting enemies. The concussion effect causes the victim's camera to sway around wildly, making it very difficult to aim.
- Used offensively, it's most effective against the Sniper and Heavy, since their ability to aim their main weapons gets particularly hindered by the concussion effect.
- Even though it's not easy, it's still possible to control your aiming when you're under the effects of a Concussion Grenade. You need to take two things in consideration:
- You'll shoot in the direction your weapon is aiming at, so use the weapon's model as a basic orientation
- The camera doesn't move around randomly, its pattern is exactly the same every time and resembles a figure 8 that shrinks over time.
- As a heavy, you actually have a good chance of regaining control of your aim if you use the assault cannon's tracers as a visual guide.
- Remember that your enemies get affected by the grenade's push as well - even though this won't be useful in so many situations, it's still good to keep in mind.
Conc Jumping
The Concussion Grenade can be used to perform a "conc jump" - an incredibly useful (when done right) technique which makes the Scout and Medic very agile. A conc jump can be performed in one of two ways:
- By throwing the grenade on the ground and jumping over it right as it goes off. This is usually easier to perform - just remember that the power of a concussion blast increases as the distance from the grenade decreases - so it's strongest right at the very edge of the explosion.
- You can also prime the Concussion Grenade (hold down your Secondary Grenade key) and let it go while simultaneously jumping at the correct moment. This type of conc jump can be slightly more difficult to do, and is also more dependent on your ping.
It's also possible to chain several consecutive conc jumps. Chaining two conc grenades can be very useful in actual gameplay, such as throwing one down then priming another one in hand. However, using more than two grenades has very little use in actual gameplay and is mostly used for completing "trick" maps.
Differences Between Quake Team Fortress and Team Fortress Classic
In Quake Team Fortress, a person affected by a Concussion Grenade will have their view randomly and suddenly jut around. In Team Fortress Classic, the Concussion Grenade effect will cause the victim's view to move in a pattern roughly similar to the symbol for infinity.

Trivia
- The Concussion Grenade was scheduled to appear in Team Fortress 2, but was scrapped when grenades were removed. Unlike the classic Team Fortress games, only the Scout would have the Concussion Grenade; the Medic would've used the Heal grenade.
