Some determined new guy has joined the Community Strategy cause.
Hey Doc, I'm not sure if you're active, but I'm here and have been contributing to the Strategy pages a ton recently. Just popping a note here that I'm personally offering to join the Community Strategy Project, and have been hard at work for the last week or so. Take a look at the Basic Strategy pages: I have added info, edited, and tweaked all of them with the help of InShane to cut out the grit.
I am beginning to move on to the Community Strategy pages since they are outdated as nuts, and am almost done with the Community Scout strategy page. I'll keep going till every class is updated, then I'll see if I can help out with the map pages and such. I hope that my contributions are appreciated in the long run; InShane seems to like my additions.
If you don't mind, I'll also add my name to the Team Fortress Wiki:Community Strategy's contributor names if it is agreeable.

Welcome back from the dead
Now if it isn't too much of an issue, maybe you could go and give my recent Community Strategy page updates a check? Everything was edited down to weapon combinations and class cooperation strategies to be as recent as possible. Currently only Scout and Soldier are done though. Takes a long time. Archrelico "Mexi" 00:52, 27 May 2016 (PDT)
- Send me the ones you've done so far and I'll take a look. I can't go through all of them right now for I'm working on class images. -- Dr. Scaphandre 16:33, 27 May 2016 (PDT)
I'm sorry
I am aware these were some awful additions but my concept was ok. I'm new to the formatting (eg. Info boxes) and had The sections a little jumbled but ive already spent the last 4 hours trying to figure out the formatting but then when I figured out that the "see also" and "updates" tabs were in the wrong spot I wanted to fix it but my little sis wanted me on a bike ride. so I didn't get to fix it right away so I left it thinking "these areas have been abandoned for some time" so I left it to come back too in an half-hour so I will admit the page as it stood was pretty bad so I'll fix it then publish it the next time I do something like that. Once again sorry. OOStriker (talk) 17:05, 12 July 2016 (PDT)
- Look, no need to beat yourself up about it. You're new, and you don't know how things work. But if you don't know how to do something, please next time ask someone how to do it, or try to figure out yourself. We have a lot of tools to help you learn the ways of the wiki, starting with the help page itself. Secondly, there's the IRC channel, where you can talk to people live. I definitely recommend you come and visit us on the IRC, as it can give you live feeds of recent changes, and everyone there are really cool guys and would love to meet you. -- Dr. Scaphandre 17:10, 12 July 2016 (PDT)

Featured article (and dyk?) rotation
Hey, if you want a template for these can you tell me what you're picturing? Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 02:03, 24 August 2016 (PDT)
- I was looking at a Javascript where the script makes the Wiki Markup of the featured article for you when the dates came like other wikis. You make the page in advance in the archive, then it's constructed on the front page. Encyclopedia Dramatica uses a system similar to this. -- Dr. Scaphandre 07:32, 24 August 2016 (PDT)
- That could work. The current system could use tweaking. Would we still be able to add new pages to the rotation? -- Dr. Scaphandre 12:40, 26 August 2016 (PDT)
- So this is what I'm asking you -- make a specification (e.g. a list of things you want) and I'll try to implement them in code / tell you they're impossible. This is a project that you suggested / supported, so I need you to take the lead on it. Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 00:08, 28 August 2016 (PDT)
- So what we need is a script that can make the featured article for us. It needs to be able to keep track of the dates where the Featured Article needs to be changed as we're trying to set it up to become a bimonthly update. When it gets near the time for it to update it provides a notice warning that it needs an update. This is to make things more organized for if I'm and the others are gonna uodate the front page more we need some scripts that can organize updating more. -- Dr. Scaphandre 14:13, 28 August 2016 (PDT)
- Ok, here's a demo of what you (might) mean: User:Darkid/Sandbox Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 17:40, 29 August 2016 (PDT)

It should completely replace {{FeaturedArticle}}
. Same usage. Adding rows should be fairly obvious? Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 22:22, 30 August 2016 (PDT)
- The only thing it needs now is a little section that shows people how to add a new Featured article, then we can test it out. -- Dr. Scaphandre 23:05, 30 August 2016 (PDT)

- I understand how to use it. I just have problems explaining myself. You just put the template contents in the date you want it to change right? -- Dr. Scaphandre 11:50, 31 August 2016 (PDT)

Seriously? You and Hinaomi keep doing this
Stop reverting my changes 100%. Maybe if you disagree with 1 change I did, then review that page yourself and spend time making it better. There are obvious reasons why I make changes to pages. And although some of my additions may need changing, the old descriptions definitely need changing. Fire was linked twice on the HLH page, and there was limited information about the damage. The 25% damage is misleading, and basically, if it actually was 25% more than Stock, then it is a straight upgrade to the Brass Beast. It clearly isn't, and its max damage is still slightly lower. Just wanted to clear that up. Also, it has to be somewhere, the burning player damage. Maybe move it to the actual damage section if you have the time or can be bothered to. With the Brass Beast, before it said something about having 60% less movement speed when BOTH deployed AND revved up. What does this tell me? That these are two SEPARATE scenarios, and that suggests that this person who edited the page previously thought that the Brass Beast has 60% movement speed reduction when DEPLOYED (opposite of holstered, if you didn't catch on). This is obviously untrue, and so I fixed it. When I do things like this, I also change some other stuff I think needs changing, after only initially wanting to change 1 aspect of a weapon description. Hayzze (talk) 07:17, 31 August 2016 (PDT)
Aha! Here it is: "slower movement speed while it is both deployed and revved up." This speaks for itself. Hayzze (talk) 07:21, 31 August 2016 (PDT)
This was what the post-MYM Huo-Long Heater page said: "Additionally, the weapon deals 25% extra damage against burning targets. However, the Huo-Long Heater deals 10% lower damage when compared to the Minigun". This is misleading. It deals 25% more damage than the Minigun on burning targets, okay. But wait! It also deals 10% less damage? This will not make sense to the average person reading the attributes. Basically, it deals 10% less BASE damage, and this BASE damage is increased by 25%. But no one will know that from reading this. Also, again, there is no information at all about the burning player damage in the Damage section. And with the Brass Beast, you have to go to the Heavy page in order to see what the speed actually becomes. 60% of the Heavy's speed removed? No! In fact, 60% is of the ALREADY SLOWED SPEED. 15 is almost exactly 40% of 37. Hayzze (talk) 07:28, 31 August 2016 (PDT)
- It does need updating, but I go back to you putting in too much information. You're making the pages too complicated when they should be short two sentence changes. Rikka and I are trying to tell you that in a calming way that you need to shorten your edits.
- This brings another issue as you're being extremely hostile to Rikka and I and instead of coming straight to us in our talk pages to discuss this, you just redo'd the edits, causing drama that has no place in the wiki. I admit, I was a little harsh, but your actions were no excuse either.
- We'll discuss the edits later as I need to prepare for class, but just understand that you were in the wrong too. -- Dr. Scaphandre 07:30, 31 August 2016 (PDT)
- You can read this when you go back on. If you really want to make the information in the summary that simple, then you should at least have the details accessible somewhere else on the page (or even somewhere else on the wiki, in which case, Brass Beast is fine but HLH isn't), such as in the "Damage and Function Times" section. There is literally nothing there about burning player damage, and I'm not really sure how you are going to manage that. Because, essentially, the HLH has 4 types of base damage, depending on the scenario and type of damage. It already has its damage split into 2, with 1 for the fire and 1 for the actual bullets. But then, you need to go and give it the base damage for the bullets and fire when against burning players. Why can we easily do this on pages such as the Flare Gun, Sun-on-a-Stick, Scorch Shot and the Axtinguisher? Because they operate on consistent differences in damage (crits and mini-crits). The +25% damage and -10% damage are both base damages. This means that the HLH can either deal -10% damage compared to the Minigun or -10% damage stacked with +25% damage compared to the Minigun. So, work out what you want to do. Hayzze (talk) 07:44, 31 August 2016 (PDT)

{{Infobox comics}}
translation and external links
Hi , Mr. Scaphandre
I want to translate the whole comics section here on wiki (not to translate the actual comics, but i'll get to that).
My first problem is that {{Infobox comics}}
is not translated to my language, because none of comics are translated komiks to my language, /cs.
So im asking you, is there any way , a puny beginner like me can somehow translate the infobox for comics to /cs ?
Now to the second "problem" (i mentioned in headline) are external links (again, referring to comics) I know a certain website, dedicated to TF2 , it has updates , some guides and very well-made comics. The site itself is maintained (and the comics are translated) by our Czech Mod, named SC.
So , (finally getting to the problem..) can i post an external link to the certain website with the translated comic, so czech viewer can read it in his mother language , other than English ?
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: since im writing to User talk to the first time, you can see some formatting errors... I deeply apologise for that.
.kyon (talk) 10:47, 2 September 2016 (PDT)
- Okay, firstly, never put brackets in headers ever again. That breaks them.
- Secondly, you can translate the comic infobox. However, I do not know how to do that as I'm not a translator. You should contact one of the other translators, like my buddy Tark instead.
- Thirdly, yes you can post the external link to the Czech comic on the Czech version of the page. Do not post it in the English version. Any other translation questions ask the other translators. -- Dr. Scaphandre 10:55, 2 September 2016 (PDT)

- When you want to link to a template, use
{{tl}}
, aka 'Template Link'. Simply put {{tl|name of template}} and you get a pretty link. As far as translation goes, simply look for{{lang}}
templates within the source and add your language in. If there's anything you need help getting translated, feel free to ask me. Darkid « Talk — Contribs » 16:22, 2 September 2016 (PDT)
