The Great Steam Treasure Hunt is a promotional event that is taking place from December 6, 2010, through to December 22, 2010. Completing 10 of any of the objectives before December 20, and the player will have a chance to win 100 games of their choice through a raffle. Every two days during the promotion, 20 players will be awarded 5 games from their Steam wishlist selected from those players who have cleared any of the 4 current objectives and have at least 10 games in their Steam wishlist.
In addition, exclusive hats are awarded at various intervals of completion:
- Completing 5 objectives unlocks the Bounty Hat.
- Completing 15 objectives unlocks the Treasure Hat.
- Completing all 28 objectives unlocks the Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect
