— The Scout
|
” |
A fast talking kid from Boston with a penchant for baseball, the Scout is the fastest of all classes. His speed and ability to double jump will leave slower opponents struggling to keep up. This, coupled with his Scattergun, makes the Scout ideal at hit and run tactics, allowing him to inflict massive close-range damage before dashing away to safety. The Scout can also equip his trusty Sandman to stun opponents with long-range baseballs, equip his Bonk! Atomic Punch to make a getaway without taking damage, or drink his Crit-a-Cola to take out unaware opponents in seconds.
The Scout is an ideal choice if you need an objective completed quickly, as he can capture Control Points and push carts twice as fast as all other classes. His petite stature and swiftness also make him a befitting class to provide distractions. With the addition of Mad Milk, the Scout now has a bigger role as a support for the team.
The Scout is voiced by Nathan Vetterlein.

Bugs
- Crazy Legs seems to have made a return. If one runs and jumps while running, the Scout's legs may flop about as if boneless.
Trivia
- After players noted a resemblance between the Scout and TV pitchman Offer Shlomi (also known as Vince Offer), many requested that Valve add a reference to this in-game. With the release of the Scout update, lines such as "If you order now, I'll throw in a second beatin', absolutely free." and "No otha' class' gonna do dat!" were added to the game files.
- The Scout's voice actor, Nathan Vetterlein, also provides the voice for the "Church Guy" character in Valve title Left 4 Dead.
- The excited Scout mascot in the Force-A-Nature ad also appears in a slightly altered form as the icon for the 'You'll Feel a Little Prick' Medic achievement.
- The Submachine Gun for the Sniper was originally intended as the primary weapon for the Scout.
- The Nailgun, a scrapped weapon carried over from Team Fortress Classic, was also intended for the Scout.
- In Template:W, an image of the BLU Scout makes a cameo as the Jack card for the black suits (spades and clubs) in the "TF2" card deck.
- The Scout makes an appearance in Template:W as one of the forts; the rest of the fort is composed of Granary. As well, the Scout's headset and cap is a selectable hat for the player's worms.
