The Great Steam Treasure Hunt

The Great Steam Treasure Hunt was a promotional event that took place from December 6, 2010, through to December 20, 2010. Completing 10 of any of the objectives before December 20 and logging in on December 20 gave the player a chance to win 100 games of their choice through a raffle. Every two days during the promotion, 20 players were awarded the top 5 games from their Steam wishlist selected from those players who had cleared any of the 4 current objectives and had at least 10 games in their Steam wishlist.

In addition, exclusive hats were awarded at various intervals of completion:

• Completing 5 objectives unlocked the Bounty Hat.
• Completing 15 objectives unlocked the Treasure Hat.
• Completing all 28 objectives unlocked the Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect.

New objectives were posted at 10am PST every two days through the Treasure Hunt. Objectives could be completed from the time they were revealed until the end of the hunt.

December 6-7 Self Portrait Set up an avatar. Got Tanked? Become a Desert Fox in R.U.S.E. Up the Ante Unlock The Iron Curtain in Poker Night at the Inventory. More Cowbell Set a leaderboard score of at least 1,124,400 in easy mode for the 'Paul Hartnoll' level in Chime.

December 8-9 Friends with Benefits Have 10 friends on your friends list. What Happens in Vegas Complete Ol' Buddy Ol' Pal achievement in Fallout: New Vegas. Terminal Velocity Set a leaderboard score of at least 22,600 on the level 'Mash Face Against Mountain' in AaAaAA!!!. Go To Your Happy Place Play the demo or game The UnderGarden.

December 10-11 Join the Club Join an official group Family Style Get Back in Business in Mafia II Stack the Deck Be a Devastator in Magic: The Gathering Just Drop It Set a leaderboard score of at least 85,370 for 'Classic - Small Wonder' in Droplitz

December 12-13 It's Better to Give Send a gift to a friend Take One for the Team Make a Sacrifice in Call of Duty: Black Ops Breaker, Breaker Set a leaderboard score of at least 11,200,000 for 'Bonus Mode' in Shatter Zombie Zoo Create a Crass Menagerie in Left 4 Dead 2

Trivia

• "Steam Gimme" was formerly known as "Sneak Peak". In order to achieve the objective originally, individuals needed to download and watch a trailer from each of the six listed games.
• The temporary "Question Mark" icon for the Hat of Undeniable Wealth And Respect was identical to one worn by Steam mascot character 'Tappet' in one of the promotional Steam Store banners.
