*You can force an enemy Medic to waste his charge by severely damaging him, as Medics will often use their charge as a life-saver.

*Medics will automatically vocalize when they have a full charge, however this vocalization can be produced at any time using the voice menu.

*Medics with a full charge will have an accompanying particle effect. Target enemy Medics with this effect.

*As a Demoman, drop stickies below or in anticipation for a charged pair. Detonating them should kill or knock the pair away.

*As a Spy, disguise as an enemy class, preferably an offensive class like Heavy, Demoman, or Soldier, then try to get the Medic to waste his charge on you.

*As a Soldier, continuously shoot at either the Medic or his partner's feet to disrupt their movement. This won't work on Heavies.

*As a Pyro, use the airblast to keep an ubercharged pair away from friendly Sentry Guns or team-mates. Popping the pair up in front of Sentry Guns will send them flying away due to knockback.

*Airblasting grenades, stickies, and rockets from enemy Demomen and Soldiers under the effect of the Kritzkrieg can quickly kill the pair and any of their team-mates.

The Medic moves quickly and has a decent amount of health, but is poor at self-defense, requiring the protection of his healing partner and team to survive.

General

  • The Medic should always be top priority when you are considering whom to kill. A team without their Medic is at a severe disadvantage.
  • The Scout's Force-A-Nature knockback and the Pyro's airblast can be used to disconnect enemy Medics from their partners, or vice versa.
  • It's always best to disconnect and isolate the Medic to prevent him merely latching onto another team-mate, especially during an ÜberCharge.
  • When fighting a Medic and his healing partner, try to kill the Medic instead. His partner will merely shrug off your damage.
  • As a Sniper, it is easier to bodyshot the Medic then go for a headshot. A fully charged bodyshot will kill in one hit, granted the Medic is not overhealed.
  • As a Spy, disguise as an offensive class, preferably Heavy, Demoman, or Soldier, then try to lead the Medic to his death.

Weapon Specific

A list of useful tidbits about the Medic's tools, and how to best counter them.

Crusader's Crossbow

Item icon Crusader's Crossbow.png

  • The Crusader's Crossbow deals damage based on how far away the target is. Closing the distance will make it deal less damage.
  • The bolts fired from this crossbow heal the Medic's allies. Consider taking a shot if it means denying someone a quick heal.
  • The Crusader's Crossbow has a slow firing rate. Take advantage of this by countering between shots.

Bonesaw

Übersaw

Item icon Ubersaw.png

  • Meleeing a Medic with the Übersaw should be last resort due to each hit giving him 25% Übercharge.
  • Because of its 20% slower firing speed, you can defeat the Medic wielding it easily with ranged weapons and melee weapons.

Vita-Saw

Amputator

Item icon Amputator.png

  • The Amputator requires the Medic to taunt to heal his allies. This makes him an easy target, especially for enemy Snipers and Spies.
