:** The information in Weapons is redundant to what is in the Class pages. I have no recollection of ever using the Weapons page. But, its layout is better for side-by-side. Would addition of switch to/switch away/reload times to side-by-sides be usefull? IDK, I never think of switch times, really.

:*** Not sure if I'm necroing here by accident (you guys's signatures are from January, but there hasn't yet been an actual merging of the pages), but I would just like to say that I use the Weapons page all the time whenever I want to quickly look at a list of all the game's weapons. (Say, I'm thinking about which Scout secondaries I might want killstreaks for, or I'm trying to compare the damage of two melee weapons on two different classes.) I think having one page that just lists all of the weapons individually is a nice convenience. [[User:HitlineMiamo|HitlineMiamo]] ([[User talk:HitlineMiamo|talk]]) 10:06, 21 April 2022 (UTC)

I feel like this page isn't super necessary and should either be incorporated into Weapons. Most of the stuff I see in here so far (As the page was made before being completed) doesn't really seem necessary to mention on the Weapons page because they'd be better on the individual weapon pages (GRU health drain being instant, Half-Zatoichi needing to be fully deployed for the weapon switching health penalty, Miniguns requiring the wind-down animation to finish, Sniper Rifles requiring the rechamber to be finished, Beggar's/Cow Mangler not being able to be switched away, etc.). Perhaps if the Attacking/Reloading sections are finished there might be more things that are worth mentioning, but so far there doesn't really seem anything that should be mentioned there (Maybe besides the standard deploy time).

Pictogram plus.png  Agreed. There is not enough here for a standalone article, and I believe GrampaSwood has said it all: most of the content here would be better on the individual weapon pages. - BrazilianNut (talk) 14:39, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
Pictogram plus.png  The Weapons article feels more like a "List of weapons" article. It needs more info and this article covers it · Ashe (talk) 19:13, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
First, this is the sort of thing for sandboxing; but even so, being in the main space prompted the discussion.
Agree that there should be a "merge", but where and in what manner?
  • Not needed if just repeating information best presented elsewhere.
  • Not needed if it has some usefulness best presented elsewhere in a Strategy page.
  • Not needed if it has some usefulness best presented elsewhere in a Guide.
  • Maybe needed if there really is a missing description of the mechanics of switching, which I would not know.
Where?
  • Weapons? Ashe, it is supposed to be a List of Weapons (whether we need such a list is immatterial to the question of whether it is a list (it is a list)).
    • The information in Weapons is redundant to what is in the Class pages. I have no recollection of ever using the Weapons page. But, its layout is better for side-by-side. Would addition of switch to/switch away/reload times to side-by-sides be usefull? IDK, I never think of switch times, really.

  • Mechanics? Switching is important mechanic. IIRC, manipulation of switch timing is a means of weapons balance.
    • The incomplete Attacking and Reloading sections make this even more of a Mechanics page.
    • The Mechanics page could use improvement on the Weapons mechanics. That section does link to Weapons; but Weapons has no real discussion of mechanics.

Mechanics also seems like a solid candidate, the information on switch time is something I do think is important to mention somewhere.
