Original intended class trivia

"During development, the Fan O'War was intended for the Soldier, but during play-testing, Valve decided that the attributes that they had coded worked best for the Scout. [1]" This statement is just an assumption. The only citation is an image by contributor Larolaro which has the Soldier holding the Fan O'War. Larolaro only had the Soldier use it to test the completed model in game. I can back this statement with the fact that I've spoken to him directly about it as well as with a quote from his profile.

"My role in this was to design, model and texture the 8 items from simple descriptions. I was left in the dark in terms of the item names, mechanics and usage." http://steamcommunity.com/id/larolaro

The image used to cite the trivia comes from a post on Larolaro's blog where he talks about the models. There is no evidence that this item was intended for Soldier. I suggest this line of trivia be removed until evidence suggests otherwise. - SilverHammer 03:21, 17 March 2011 (UTC)

Marked for death SFX

Added the notification sound just needs incorporation into the page somehow! - Devozade 22:07, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Disputed mark of death icon

I'm not sure where the icon depicted on the page came from, but the icon I see in game is a white version of the GRU particle, almost identical to the one marking 'it' for the Horsemann albeit quite large. So which is right?--Focusknock 23:44, 11 March 2011 (UTC)

Pretty sure it's the Heavy Skull, it's in the GCF, seen it in game. And it is exactly the same as the skull depicted in the poster I have. Include the headshot entrance wound. - Devozade 23:55, 11 March 2011 (UTC)
That's totally not the icon that's in-game. Just a Gigolo 11:44, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
The heavy icon is seen on the HUD, just above the health, for the player that has been marked so they can see; the skull and crossbones is what's above the marked player's head like a domination icon or a duelling icon, so everybody else can see who's marked. There's 2, that's the only confusion you people have. - Devozade 17:54, 12 March 2011 (UTC)
Thanks for clearing this up (sarcasm from the Gigolo noted). I've fixed the page so people will not make a similar mistake.--Focusknock 10:59, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
I wasn't being sarcastic, I was mistaken, and thought that there was only one icon. My bad. Just a Gigolo 18:28, 14 March 2011 (UTC)
Ah K, all is good.--Focusknock 18:36, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

New Nickname

Well It seems SPUF has already adopted a new way to refer to this weapon. The FoW. Not as catchy as the FaN but it works. I've already added it to the Glossary of Player Term. {{subst:void|This template should always be substituted. Please change {{Unsigned}} to {{subst:Unsigned}}}}The preceding unsigned comment was added by Tryer (talk) • (contribs) 2024-11-30, 11:19 UTC

This hurts me, because in Guild Wars, there's an important place called the Fissure of Woe that is referred to as the FoW almost exclusively. --User Firestorm Flame.png Firestorm 03:37, 17 March 2011 (UTC)
