The Engineer Update is a patch for the Engineer, the last class to have a major content pack released. The update was announced on July 5, 2010, and was released on July 8, 2010.

The Engineer Update is a patch for the Engineer, the last class to have a major content pack released. The update was announced on July 5, 2010, and was released on July 8, 2010. Rather than announcing new content for the update regularly, new content was released every time 25 Golden Wrenches were found. With 100 Wrenches to be found in total, there were 4 announcements prior to the final release.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed client crash related flashlight usage.
  • Fixed several issues related to alt-tabbing (invisible players, etc).

Engineer

Item tuning

  • The Sandvich now uses a cooldown timer, instead of the health pack recharge mechanic.
  • The Gunboats now reduce self-damage by 60% (was 75%)
  • The Tribalman's Shiv bleed duration reduced to 6 second (was 8), and its damage penalty increased to 50% (was 35%).

Other changes

  • Added better feedback sound for Pyros on when their flamethrower is doing damage.
  • Fixed blood effect on bleeding player.
  • Added a glow effect to Payload carts.
  • Added Romanian language support.

  • Fixed a server crash related to carrying buildings.
  • Fixed a HUD element issue in DX8.

Undocumented changes

  • Added a second Misc. item slot in the loadout.
  • Added several new Engineer responses, including domination lines.
  • Added Medic companionship lines when calling for a Medic while targeting one.
  • Many kill icons were added.
  • Scottish Resistance now shows location of stickies placed with glow effect.
  • Wrenching a Sentry now upgrades, repairs and restores ammunition all at once per Wrench hit, prioritizing repairs and upgrading if not in possession of enough metal.
