TF Industries is a mysterious corporation based in Washington "devoted to the highest level of craftsmanship and personal security". Headed by the Administrator, they specialise in the very latest in military technology; selling all manner of deadly, cutting-edge devices to prospective buyers. They also run the popular 'Buildables' line of engineering products.

They offer an extended services contract on all items and are not responsible for any injuries attained while operating their products.

Known products of theirs include:

Mann Co.

Mann Co., (Slogan: "We sell products and get in fights") is a division of TF Industries. Originally founded by Zepheniah Mann, it was left to his Australian aide and tracker Barnabas Hale in his final will and testament under the name 'Mann & Sons Munitions Concern'. The company is currently run by Barnabas' descendant Saxton Hale, who operates on the policy that if you aren't 100% satisfied with their product line, you can take it up with him. They publish the 'Dapper Rogue' catalogue for the "gentleman scoundrel", of which the Spy is a purveyor. The Administrator is also known to make use of Mann Co. for custom orders via Miss Pauling. They were the subject of a senate investigation in relation to their alleged part in the tragic destruction of American monkeynaut Poopy Joe's capsule during takeoff, which their lawyers firmly deny.

Mann Co. was originally founded as Zepheniah Mann & Sons Co. In days gone by the company ran the quarterly concern, "a compendium of broad swords, musket gonnes and domesday weaponry for immediate sale", a tome of no small interest to the Soldier.

Mann Co. are responsible for a number of products, including:

and as Zepheniah Mann & Sons Co.:

  • Broad Swords
  • Musket Gonnes
  • Domesday Weaponry
  • Sulphurous Cannonading Projectiles
  • Vial of Toxiferous Plague

Trivia

  • 'TF' is the acronym for 'Team Fortress'. This is either a sly self-reference or an explanation of sorts for the title.
  • BMESA and APSCI are acronyms of 'Black Mesa' and 'Aperture Science', referring to Valve titles 'Half-Life' and 'Portal' respectively.
  • There are 3 different flags (actual flags, not intelligence cases) in the game files, the head of each reads 'TFi'
  • According to the Mac Update's comic, Mann Co. products tend to break down, catch on fire (although Saxton Hale claims that that's how he knows the products are on), and melt into people's skulls. This, however, is not canon.
