Name?
I just decided to use the name 'Guitar' since I didn't know if it had an actual name. Does anyone know if it has an official name? Should we leave it at 'guitar'? Should we change it to 'EL KABONG!'? --André the Accelerator 01:57, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kabong would be awesome IMO. OluapPlayer 02:02, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Since his other taunt is affectionately named 'Organ Grinder' I think that 'Kabong!' or 'El Kabong' would fit better, so can we get a name change?--André the Accelerator 02:06, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kabong! would be good.--Piemanmoo 02:31, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- So uh, what name you guys want? --Vi3trice 02:32, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Oh! How about Death Note?--Piemanmoo 03:09, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- No. Really, just no. You know why I'm saying that. I'd rather call it Sonata of Death. --Vi3trice 03:12, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I like Kabong! — WindPower 03:13, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Then Kabong! is it. --Vi3trice 03:29, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Not Kabong. That's horrible. Makes NO sense. I'm thinking of a better name. -- Smashman... (t • s) 10:42, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- You don't get the reference then, the move and sound are from Quick Draw McGraw's [1] alter ego "El Kabong"[2] which was a cartoon made from 1959-1962, it was also later a professional wrestling move[3]. Regardless of what people like, that is the reference. "El Kabong" would be the correct name for the move. --Xeroproject 18:58, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- How about something more guitar-related like TWANG! -- SgtWoodsy 11:15, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Have any problem with Quick Draw McGraw, punk? OluapPlayer 11:20, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- To the guy who said it made no sense: EL KABONG! Song! 12:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)

Twang! I like Twang! -- Smashman... (t • s) 12:12, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- NOOOOOOO... I'd even prefer "Kabong!" (It sounds so weird!) over "Twang!" (It's even weirder!)The Neotank 12:15, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Fine, but Kabong is awful. Something to do with Guitar smashing? -- Smashman... (t • s) 12:17, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Frankly, I'd just go with "Guitar." It's boring and plain, but it works. The Neotank 12:21, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- How about "Honky Smash"? -- Smashman... (t • s) 12:45, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I HAVE IT! "Honky Konk!" Play on words with Honky Tonk and Konk means knock out. It's perfect. -- Smashman... (t • s) 12:51, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- How about "Six String Sting"? Siphidatalk 13:01, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Or, Honky Konk? -- Smashman... (t • s) 13:03, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Isn't 'Honky' a racial slur? Siphidatalk 13:05, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Against white people, yes. Mind you, white people don't exactly have the best track record for preaching racial tolerance. Anyway, I think Kabong! is better. I mean, the homage is there and everything! Noizeblaze 13:15, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Honky Tonk is a type of bar in the South USA. No racial slur there. Kabong sounds like some weird drug thing. I truly hate it. -- Smashman... (t • s) 13:35, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I'm personally liking six string stinger. It's in that achievement name, so it's almost official! --Wilsonator 19:05, 10 July 2010 (UTC)

- I think "Guitar" got the point across, at least until we have a proper name. Kabong! doesn't make any sense. --Janitor 17:22, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- I say keep it as Kabong! It makes perfect sense if you get the reference.--EDF 19:33, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
THE CASE FOR KEEPING IT AS KABONG--- This is why it needs to be Kabong! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmemBa1HAzU ... I'm willing to bet the devs were at least inspired by this. - Goose511th 21:18, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
- Good to see my choice is still holding strong.--André the Accelerator 05:53, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
I'm all for "EL KABONG." --The preceding unsigned comment was added by Radiant Bonk (talk) • contribs)
- "El Kabong" is the same name of what it's referencing, and it might be copyrighted by Hanna-Barbera (most likely not, but you never know). Just Kabong is close enough so that any simpleton will get the connection. Most people seem to be prefering that over "Guitar" but I'm okay with either one.--Piemanmoo 08:20, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- How about "Dischord"? No racial slur and no strange reference that a few people get and others don't. And it's simple enough. -- Smashman... (t • s) 11:16, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Can we do polls or something? --Vi3trice 13:52, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- No. I'm changing it to Dischord later. This name may be a reference that a few people get and that's all fine and dandy. But not everyone gets it and we're here for all people not a few that watch cartoons. So unless anyone comes up with another good idea for a name, it's Dischord. -- Smashman... (t • s) 16:10, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- We could add a note that it may have been inspired by this El Kabong fella, although I even doubt that. People smash guitars on stage all the time. -- Smashman... (t • s) 16:12, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- Please, why doing it later when I can do it now? Ninja. --Vi3trice 16:29, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- You do realize that the reason it was suggested was because the guitars are similar as well as their choice of weapon right? Just saying, it wouldn't work with a rock guitar or any other type. Antwan 21:05, 10 July 2010 (UTC)
- "Dischord" is terribly boring, if not "Kabong!" then we should \think about a name for it that at least sounds a little bit more exciting, kind of how the arrow taunt for the Huntsman was changed to the name "Skewer" to sound a little more exciting itself. --EDF 02:34, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Kabong! looks like an obvious choice, the attack is the same and the guitar looks the same, too. Dischord is just sorta punny. Anonynja 03:05, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- I like how this is being overruled by somebody who obviously isn't familiar with the culture that spawned the taunt. Never got to see Quick Draw in the UK eh? And also wanting to avoid polls. Somebody drop an email on Robin and see if we can get pointed at Valve's actual source. Xeroproject 08:11, 13 July 2010 (UTC)

- "Stinger" maybe? Shine 06:58, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
Racism is lame and imaginated excuse, methinks Kabong! is It. Ostrowiak 07:32, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with Wilsonator. I like "Six String Stinger" as well. -- En Ex 11:16, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- It might get confused with the achievement, which is why none of the others have their achievement names, (except the Heavy's which I was planning on changing to "Pow!" anyway) -- Smashman... (t • s) 11:26, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- I think "Showdown" is distinct enough from "Show Trial" that people wouldn't get confused (especially with the achievement on the same page and all). Maybe this one should have a name that refers to the Frontier Justice, since that's the weapon you use to activate the taunt. Maybe something like "Justice Smash" (or something better, that's not the best). --PieGuy64 17:48, 11 July 2010 (UTC)

The chord
It is an E natural, not an E9, I checked myself on a well-tuned guitar against the engineer's taunt. Please check something before you edit. -- Song! 14:02, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- Really? I heard an E, F sharp, G sharp, B and a top E, which constitutes E9 or Emaj9. Well, I don't have a guitar to hand, so my apologies. --Tentacle 22:22, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- It's not really a big deal, so don't worry about it. -- Song! 23:50, 11 July 2010 (UTC)
- E natural is a note, not a chord. E major is the correct terminology.
- Thanks for reminding me, didn't even think about that. And thanks for specifying the exact chord, Tentacle. Song! 20:P53, 13 July (UTC)
- Yeah, I'm hearing an E major --Firestorm 05:14, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
- Actually, we're all wrong. It's Eadd9. Lookie here - it's the first one. Tentacle 11:20, 13 July 2010 (UTC)
