— The Soldier fondly remembering his origins

The Original is a promotional primary weapon for the Soldier. Styled after the weapon from Quake, it is a tan rocket launcher with a gray tubular exhaust port, bulky barrel and a gray handle.
This weapon functions like the Rocket Launcher, yet has additional cosmetic changes. As with the launcher in Quake, the Original's first person viewmodel is in the bottom-center of the screen and rockets are launched straight into the crosshair. The Soldier holds the weapon normally in third person view.
The Original was awarded in Genuine quality to players who purchased Quake 4 before August 8th, 2011 at 10AM PDT.

Update history
- The Original was added to the game.
- Updated The Original so it can be purchased/crafted/traded/found
- Updated the gamehaptics file
- Added draw/recoil/reload/crit forces for the Original
Bugs
- Like the Direct Hit, Liberty Launcher and Black Box, the Soldier does not load rockets for the Original when reloading (although, by default, the front of the Original is hidden in the bottom during reloading).
- Spies disguised as a Soldier equipped with this weapon will appear to carry the standard Rocket Launcher.
- The draw animation lets you look through the tube of the Launcher, being empty regardless of rockets loaded into the Original.
- Before official release, files were found for it and it was usable through developers console. It however fired from the right, much like the default rocket. this was fixed in the official release.
Unused content
- The game files contain additional remastered sounds from Quake, such as explosions, picking up items, and using chat.
Trivia
- Most sounds triggered by use of this weapon were remastered from the original Quake Rocket Launcher.
