About this "dropping"

Is this a for sure thing? Has anyone actually got one? Jh9594 19:15, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

It is currently unreleased. User M-NINJA Signature.png 19:15, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Yes, but someone put that it drops. How can they know this without having got one. Jh9594 19:21, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
It was a mistake, the template defaults to drop if nothing is entered for the availability field. Been fixed now. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 19:22, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

Actually I've already seen a few people with this and the tamrielic relic, so maybe you can get it in a drop The preceding unsigned comment was added by SteamingKettleOfIgnorance (talk) • (contribs) 23:37, 3 August 2011

I would suspect that if people had it now you'd see people offering it on trading websites such as TF2TP. Though I suppose it's possible that they are untradable and ungiftable.--Jordan 21:19, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Read the post above yours, it was an accident, it does not drop anymore. Making those found very valuable for the time being. Dr. Blutengott 21:21, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Pictogram nope.png Nope Let me stop you right there, all the items have the attribute "cannot trade" attached...for now. So for the time being they would be "worthless" to traders. User M-NINJA Signature.png 21:27, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

I didnt mean to traders, just to people who got the items. Who would trade one anyway at this time? Dr. Blutengott 21:30, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

I have this item in non-genuine not tradable quality, obtained from a drop (I do not have Quake 4). It dropped 7/9. Check my backpack under "Blasterfire" on tf2 items. Blasterfire 16:46, 9 August 2011 (PDT)

As of today August 9th, the item drops. But when this topic began on August 3rd, the item was not in the drop system. User M-NINJA Signature.png 16:49, 9 August 2011 (PDT)

"The projectiles from the weapon also fire from the center of the screen. "

When I tested it out in itemtest it didn't really appear to come from the center. Instead it felt like it shot from the some place any other launcher would shoot it. Is this just a problem on my end?--Jordan 20:38, 3 August 2011 (PDT)

Attributes probably haven't been added yet. Clank 20:44, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
The attributes have been added, I've checked items_game. I just don't think they have implemented the use of it yet. Zadrave 20:46, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Well no. According to the schema "centerfire projectile" is an actual attribute. The problem is that itemtest items don't completely work properly. For instance, the detonator's flare cannot be detonated. User M-NINJA Signature.png 20:47, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Well that was what I meant, bad wording. Guess we'll have to see if those drops happen. No worries. Clank 20:50, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Thank you for the clarification. Does the fact that "centerfire projectile" is an actual attribute mean it more than a rocket launcher reskin?--Jordan 21:18, 3 August 2011 (PDT)
Update-eeyup. Comes out slightly under the crosshair rather than on it though. Don't suppose that's worth noting? Clank 07:17, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

That's quite a gallery

We don't need the weapon at every single possible angle. The view model and world model of the Quake original would be fine (maybe in the same image), plus the view model in TF2 (with no background) and then whatever promo image Valve might make would be plenty. Right now we have 3 images from Quake, and a view of Soldier holding the weapon and it's just kind of different than how we do other weapons. Balladofwindfishes 05:23, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Just to reiterate, do we really need Deathmatch Classic images? Balladofwindfishes 13:00, 4 August 2011 (PDT)
Yeah, the DMC view model really seems out of place. DMC is just a recreation of Quakeworld, of course they're going to be similar.
What I would like to see is a world model from Quake. More of this model is based on that than Quake's extremely undetailed view model. Dragonsbrethren 15:42, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Function

So does this function the same way as the Rocket Launcher? I put up the sentence in the introduction that says it is, but it was removed, despite it clearly functioning exactly like the Rocket Launcher. Is the information on the page just false, or what? Shane Alvarado 10:26, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Forget it, I see now. Still, a very slight difference. Shane Alvarado 10:34, 4 August 2011 (PDT)
It's a minor difference, but it does change the way you approach certain situations like corners. Balladofwindfishes 10:37, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Banned

Simmiliar problems to the homefront promotion this game is banned in germanyAmp32 00:10, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Yeah that is still a problem, and steam doesn't care to solve it somehow... TheDoctor(without a small pic) 16:28, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Well it's the same thing that led to promotions being craft able last time (Homefront) so let's cross our fingers.Amp32 00:10, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Non-Steam

I already have Quake 4, but not as a Steam game. Will I still get it, or am I screwed?Spartan007 16:20, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Nope. For the nex time, ask on SUF Dio ★ (talk) 16:26, 4 August 2011 (PDT)

Lol viewmodels

Probably not worth noting, but... http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/594692996042918806/630EFE4E501BC1B4A446D1BD14116BDF717F8899/ Clank 07:20, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Crafting

The page states there are crafting numbers, but there is no recipe, and it says it is "promotional". Can it be crafted using tokens, or is the crafting numbers an oversight? Rocket Ship BBQ 11:10, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

The craft number is there because it has the 'Can be a numbered craft' attribute in the schema for when it does become craftable. User Moussekateer signature sprite.pngMoussekateer·talk 11:12, 5 August 2011 (PDT)

Files found before release - Trivia or not?

A line about the weapon's files that were found before release was added to bugs recently. It was then removed and moved to trivia. Do you think it's "trivia worthy", or should the line be removed completely? User Heffebaycay stslogo.png Dragory 23:15, 12 August 2011 (PDT)

I'm in favor of removal. The Pip-Boy was usable through the same methods, sans the revised HUD. In this case, it's also mentioned in the update news that they had added new items for upcoming promotions. Considering they outright said they were there, noting that they were there doesn't call for trivia as far as I'm concerned. --SilverHammer 23:20, 12 August 2011 (PDT)
They mentioned it in the update news? Then I vote for removal myself, too. User Heffebaycay stslogo.png Dragory 01:07, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
Yeah, remove this. It's true for every item added to the game prior to announcement and things working differently in itemtest is already mentioned in the itemtest article. Dragonsbrethren 13:32, 13 August 2011 (PDT)

Draw sound trivia

Regarding the removal of 'the draw sound of the weapon is audible to other players' here, I wish for more opinions on this. As far as I am aware, should you spectate someone who switches active weapons, no sounds are played. However, for the Original, the draw sound is distinctly audible both to nearby players in the game and spectators of the Soldier. This is surely notable, not as first x of y, but as a mere point of interest.--Focusknock 14:03, 13 August 2011 (PDT)

It's just louder, more noticeable than the rest. --SilverHammer 14:04, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
Smashman and I just tested it. He did hear a noise when I drew the Original but not with any other weapon. To further test, he edited tf/sound/weapons so that draw sounds would play a loud beep. Only Original made this beep. Quod erat demonstrandum.--Focusknock 14:36, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
Regardless, simple observations such as that aren't trivia. Sorry. --SilverHammer 14:38, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
I heartily disagree. If not a trivia point, at least a bug. – Smashman (talk) 14:40, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
Contact Valve and ask if it's a bug, then. I don't want to see any speculation on this article, though. It's about as trivia worthy as the Frying Pan making a Frying Pan sound when it hits stuff, or the Katana having a unique drawsound that others can hear as well. --SilverHammer 14:42, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
Ah, I thought the Original was the only weapons to have an audible draw sound to everyone. In that case yes, perhaps it isn't notable if the Zatoichi is the same. --Focusknock 17:06, 13 August 2011 (PDT)
