The Life Extender Machine
And then what did you think what my rat-stinking twin brother did, He built one too, thats what!
Blutarch Mann

A Life Extender Machine is a large device with many dials, lights and mechanical components that, when connected to someone, can sustain their life indefinitely. It was first introduced in the Team Fortress comic Loose Canon: two such devices have kept the two rivals Blutarch and Redmond Mann alive for over 50 years. The machines themselves were built by Radigan Conagher, the current BLU Engineer's grandfather, after being exposed to intelligence-enhancing Australium. Conagher also built a third Life Extender Machine for reasons unknown, though it never revealed who this one was for.

In about 1960, the BLU Engineer was summoned by his employer Blutarch who explained that the machine was broken and didn't work correctly. The Engineer soon obtained his grandfather's blueprints to repair the machine, but Blutarch warned him not to build one for himself.

  • Redmond Mann can be seen with his Life Extender Machine in the RED Spawn Room of Mann Manor.
  • After being exposed to Australium, Radigan Conagher grew Texas-shaped chest hair, in a similar fashion to Saxton Hale's.
  • If the human using a Life Extender Machine dies, the machine will build up an electrical charge over the course of a few seconds, and discharge it through the user in the form of an electrical shock, effectively resuscitating them.
