Class | Strategy | ||
---|---|---|---|
Pyro |
vs | Scout (match-ups) |
Because the Scout is very weak with only 75 total health and 50 total light armor, a Pyro would kill him off easily. He's also the class that can easily be killed by afterburn, so try to attack him with the Incendiary Cannon or block his path with napalm grenades, which will kill him, or at the very least, weaken him enough to be finished off by the rest of your team. And if you do spot a Scout roaming around, report his whereabouts and eliminate him as quickly as possible. |
Pyro |
vs | Sniper (match-ups) |
The Sniper is another class that is generally easy to deal with, provided you stay out of his line of sight. The Sniper, with his extremely powerful Sniper Rifle and Automatic Rifle, can be very intimidating to a Pyro. If you encounter a Sniper, try to get as close as you can to him. The Sniper is the most ineffective at his main role when up close to the enemy. |
Pyro |
vs | Soldier (match-ups) |
Due to the Soldier's insanely large health pool, coming face-to-face with one can kill you, if the Soldier is experienced. Nonetheless, there are some very useful tactics for eliminating a Soldier. You could fire your Incendiary Cannon at him. But beware, he could retaliate with his Rocket Launcher, or his Double-Barrel Shotgun. Try not to get close, as the Soldier's rockets do more damage up close. Use this as a last resort method, in case you run out of ammo for all of your other weapons. |
Pyro |
vs | Demoman (match-ups) |
The Demoman is a particularly dangerous class for the Pyro. For starters, the Demoman has Pipebombs that he can use to set traps. The Demolitions Man also has the Grenade Launcher that he can fire at you. They explode on contact if they hit you. Luckily, the Pyro can use the Incendiary Cannon, as well as the Flamethrower to defend or attack. |
Pyro |
vs | Medic (match-ups) |
Just like the Scout, the Medic is an easy target for a Pyro, assuming the Medic is alone. The Medic has both of his shotguns, the Single-Barrel Shotgun and the Double-Barrel Shotgun. He also has the Super Nailgun, which is much more powerful than the regular Nailgun. Generally, you will find a Medic near his teammates, most often a Heavy or Soldier. The Medic can also infect you with his Medkits, so watch out for those. |
Pyro |
vs | Heavy (match-ups) |
The Heavy is a class you do not want to encounter alone. If possible, seek help from your teammates. In most circumstances, however, you should be able to escape him. Still, he is a very powerful class, and should be treated as such. Unlike the Sniper, do not try to get close. Use your Incendiary Cannon to deal damage. |
Pyro |
vs | Pyro (match-ups) |
When dealing with another Pyro, kill her quickly. She can be a nuisance to the rest of your team, and you are naturally good at taking out Pyros. However, they can do the same things as you. |
Pyro |
vs | Spy (match-ups) |
The Pyro is naturally good at dealing with a Spy, due to the way her Flamethrower works. Because of Friendly Fire not existing in Team Fortress, the Pyro can shoot flames at teammates. If they start burning or grunting, that person is an enemy Spy. It is possible to Spy-Check with the Incendiary Cannon, but the Flamethrower is much more simple to use. |
Pyro |
vs | Engineer (match-ups) |
The Engineer is almost never seen away from his buildings, so if engaging an Engineer, try to lure him away from his buildings. If he will not budge, the splash damage from the Incendiary Cannon can deal damage. |
Pyro |
vs | Civilian (match-ups) |
You cannot play as the Pyro during the Escort game mode. |
