Fixed Pellet Spread Behavior
As someone else pointed out/questioned below, the scattergun fires 10 pellets, but when fixed weapon spreads are enabled they only land in a 3x3 grid. As I've demonstrated here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hPUD-_GQl18 the central point on the grid fires 2 pellets down the same line (functionally a single double-damage pellet) while the rest fire 1. This should likely be noted on this page, and while not shown in this video, I've tested all the other shotguns and scatterguns that fire 10 pellets, and their fixed spread behaviors are all exactly the same.
I've posted a note about this on the FaN talk page as well, since it has a different but also notable fixed spread behavior.

Clip vs. Magazine
Article mistakenly states that the scatter gun has a clip, when in reality it has a tubular magazne. Fixed it. --Mhmm 03:13, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
- While true, this Wiki currently uses the term 'clip' for convenience, as it is less confusing to use the same term everywhere. See the Style guide. --Firestorm 04:01, 4 July 2010 (UTC)
9 pellets or 10?
No real channel through which I can test this personally, but there are sources in the article saying the Scattergun fires 10 pellets, but this is at odds with the claim that it leaves a perfect 3x3 hole arrangement in the wall when bullet-spread is disabled and is largely identical to the shotgun, implying it fires nine pellets. Which piece of information is correct here? Gerk 06:04, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- When bullet-spread is enabled, there will be 10 holes in the wall. GeneStealer 21:30, 22 July 2012 (PDT)
Scattergun Bugs
It says on the bugs section that there is no location on the model for shells to be replaced. WRONG. On the page for the Modest Pile of Hat, the image shows that on the bottom, there is a hole on it for shells to be replaced. Fixed it. --SpaceAnimator 19:57, 2 June 2011 (GMT)
For trivia
In real life, double barreled shotguns never have another reload mechanism (correct me if i'm wrong), because two barrels is (technically) semi-automatic firing mechanism. Valdemar 07:13, 3 July 2012 (PDT)
Festive Battery Missing
Not a real big thing, but in the 3D picture of the RED Festive Scatttergun, the battery on the Scattergun is missing. When you switch it to the BLU team Scattergun, the battery is there. Kinda odd, don't you think? DarkovianLord795 15:54, 17 December 2012 (PST)
- I think you should go to this page to report the problem. Hinaomi (talk) • (contributions) 16:58, 17 December 2012 (PST)
For the recent changes to the damage and function table
Can someone confirm if it is correct?
⇒ Anyar (talk/contributions/giveaway) 10:13, 27 March 2017 (PDT)
- I undid that change. Here is my explanation "lower number is one pellet, higher number is all 10 pellets, we could assume all will hit, but sh!t happens" || twolfe's page || twolfe's talk page 10:19, 27 March 2017 (PDT)

The texture of the scattergun has changed nowadays. And the animation how the scout holds the gun like that is not correct, looks much more like he is holding the force-a-nature or the soda popper.
I suggest taking another picture.Teeemmy (talk) 09:01, 3 May 2020 (UTC)
- This is how it looks in HLMV, I can try to see if it was accidentally taken using other viewmodels but I can't promise anything.

Reload time?
I've seen a lot of claims that the scattergun's consecutive reload time is slightly slower than the shotgun's. As for numbers, I usually see 0.76s first and 0.56s consecutive tossed around, even on previous versions of this page and still on https://wiki.teamfortress.com/wiki/Scout_weapons_(competitive). Can anyone confirm that these values are or are not incorrect? Stack man (talk) 17:58, 23 October 2020 (UTC)
Is the weapon a sawed-off shotgun?
A recent change for the loc of the Scattergun in Spanish names it now as "Recortada" (Sawed-off), so my question is whether this gun is actually a sawed-off shotgun or not · Ashe (talk) 00:32, 21 October 2022 (UTC)
